The meeting opened with the scout promise, after which Mrs, Fulford welcomed the la- dies present. Secretary's report was read and ap- proved. Treasurer's report was read. Sick convenor gave her report. We are in the thick of Inter-Schodl and Intra-Mural Bas- ketball and are happy to report that our Senior Girls' Team chalked up a victory last Friday afternoon against Sutton Girls with a score of 34-11. Our Junior Girls went down to defeat but showed an improvement in style from last week. We're sure with a little more practice and experience they will more than hold their own. Mr. Parkinson's teams scored vic- tories at Sutton District High School with unbeatable scores of: Seniors: 72-89 Juniors: 71-29, A few words of advice to Mr, Par- kinson: "Stick to backetball, sir, no baseball!" On Saturday morning the Midget Team travelled to Sutton where they participated in a Basketball Tourna- ment against Sutton, Brock, and Ux- bridge High Schools. Mr. Cole did a great coaching job and the boys put forth great efforts as shown by the following scores: - Port Perry--17 Sutton--13 Port Perry--22 Brock--23 Port Perry--156 Uxbridge--19 In the semi-finals: Port Perry 14, Brock 18. Our gentlemen curlers are still sweeping the ice furiously on Mon- day afternoon. The results from Mon- day's curling are: Bill McMillan's rink winners over Ian Beare's rink. Reg Philip's rink winners over Brian Taylor's rink. Dale Lowcock's rink and Chick Carnegie's rink were tied. Instead of returning home the two mixed senior Sunday School classes were then invited by their teachers Mrs. A. Martyn and Mrs, B, Jeffs when all gathered in the Martyn home. A social time plus steaming cocoa and lunch proved just the berries, Thanks to the teachers for their effort in in making the evening a little more enlightening than a whirl on the ice. Thursday afternoon January 14th, Mrs. Ben Smith gaily entertained her Sunday School class of girls. The weather was ideal which afforded an oportunity of admiring the crystal ap- pearance of the trees,.the group also took advantage of sleigh and tobaggon riding. Finally back to their teacher's home where slides were on the pro- gramme followed by food suitable for the occasion... All home after another star party. Last week Mrs. Jas, Kirby received word from her neice Mrs. Aikins of Richardson, Sask,, whose husband had suddenly passed away. Several will remember Mrs. Aikins the former Miss Audrey Wauchope who frequently spent her holidays with her grand- parents the late Mr, and Mrs. T.homas Turner in the village, plus other re- latives, At Sunday School John Love de- posited his birthday pennies. Mr. and Mrs. Noble and family of Ingersol spent the week-end with Mr. J. McMillan and also visited Mrs. Me- Millan, who is pregressing nicely in the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Beacock and sons, Nestleon, attended our church service and visited with his brother Mr. and Mrs. L. Beacock, on Sunday. Mr. andn Mrs. N. Wilson and boys M.
