Although the weather and roads were very miserable last Saturday, Mrs. Tom Buttery, Bowmaiiville, Div- ision Commissioner for Durham ar- arrived- in Blackstock safely with Carol Robinson of Port' Hope and Margo Morris of Oshawa. These girls have received all the necessary badges, and are now trying for their Gold Cords which is the highest award for Girl Guides. This challenge is set by the area committee and must be done in some division away from where they are a Guide. In this case the challenge was a- Christmas Party for Blackstock Brownies. All Junior, Primary, Kinder- garten and Nursey children received gifts from the Sunday School. The Anglican Church was well filled Sunday afternoon when the Sunday School presented a pageant depicting all the Notivity scenes featuring carol singing. Evergreens, bells and simi- lar items, introduced by Bishop Nicholas of Myra. - The teachers and pupils deserve great credit for the presented. ; After the service all were invited to the Parish Hall where a Christmas tree was ready, and every child of the Sunday School received a gift. A delightful evening was spent at the Girl Guide and Boy Scout Christ- mas party Saturday, December 19th from 7.30 to 12 o'clock. A piture quiz was won by Nancy Staniland and Floyd Kyte with Carol Rahm and Marion Bradburn second. Spot dances were won by Larry Hoskin and Verna Harris: David Hedge and Denise Malcolm: and David Bellingal and Pat Adams. : A delicious lunch brought the even- t|ing to a close.
