However, certain routine checks are made by local offices on every claim. An inspector investigates a claim if it involves circumstances that have been common in cases where untrue state- ments have been made to obtain bene- fits. Of course, any claim is thoroug- ly investigated if the commission has definite reason to suspect that false statements have been made. This in- formation may come to the commis- sion's attention through routine checks or a signed or unsigned report from some other person, Q.
