A. of the Port Perry United Church gave a banquet in honour of Mrs, J. Dob- son, who is retiring in September, after 9 years of faithful and outstand- ing service, as organist and choir di- rector, The members of the choir and the music committee were also guests. A committee from these last two organizations provided the decora- tions, which followed a musical mo- tif, and the programme. After a delicious turkey dinner, Mrs. F. Hastings, as president of the Choir, was mistress of ceremonies. She first called on Mr, Gordon Reesor to present to Mrs. Dobson, on behalf of the Choir and Music' Committee, a silver roll basket, suitably engraved. Mrs. Ted Jackson, as chairman of the music committee, then spoke of the invaluable contribution Mrs. Dob- son had made in the music of the church and the community. This was followed by the presentation, by Mrs, A. Brock, of a scrap book of pro- grammes and clippings from the vari- ous activities of the choir over the 9 years of -Mrs. Dobson's leadership. The cover design was beautifully done by Miss Marjorie Fralick, Mrs, F. Godley gave an original poem highlighting some of the amusing in- cidents which have occured -through the years with the choir. In thanking her many friends, Mrs. Dobson expressed the hope that the choir would give a new choir leader the same cooperation, kindness and consideration that has been shown to her, and said she would always have many happy memories of her work in Port Perry. Mr, Linstead closed this part of the programme with a few words in appreciation of Mrs, Dob- son's service to-the church since his recent coming to Port Perry. Mrs. Hastings then introduced a humorous musical game in which everyone participated with much gale- ty. Following this was a burlesque 'of several of the songs from "H.M.S. Pinafore" by several members of the choir. The evening closed with the sing- ing of Auld Lang Syne. d The choir and the music committee would -like to take this opportunity to again thank the W.A. for their kindness in preparing this banquet for us, UES Special Assorted Colours- OVAL BATH MAT 79: 36 inches long WEB SAW $3.29 WITH BLADE Aluminym Reg. $ $1.98 ""Bakit Takit" COVERED PANS s1 49 BY MADE DURO 3 pint inner pan size DOUBLE BOILER br $9.69 Reg. $4.00 Value RAY-0-VAC 8 Flashlight Batteries and FLASHLIGHT $9).00 16-0Z.
