At .a meeting held at Bracebridge in January of this year by the Pro- 'motion Division of the H.E.P.C,, e- veral steps were outlined to all Mu- nicipalities represented. "After I re- ported back, your council decided to go along with nearly all the propo- sals, advertising in the local paper being one part of the campaign, very interesting ads, appearing regularly, "to 17.8%, however the comparison A some being paid for by the HEPC, GOVERNMENT. Another step was to keep up to date electric ranges in the schools to acquaint the pupils with fully mo- dern. methods of cooking, therefore a range was purchased with the help of Mr, G. MacDonald the school prin- cipal each dealer in Port Perry was given the opportunity to tender, the tender of Mr. J. E. Jackson being "Y cepted, it 'is hoped that this policy will be continued. \ One of the most important fac's brought out at the meeting was that 18% vince of Ont,, was for the purpose of heating water, and after some dis- ? | cussion, The Commission recomended é | that each Municipality renew the po- $1licy which was discontinued afew of all Hydro used in the Pro-. years ago, and provide flat rate wa- ter heaters to consumers at whole- sale prices on a ental payment basis, your council endorsed this measure, and heaters with thirty gallon tanks, wrap around 750 watt elements, are now available to all consumers in the Village of Port Perry, payments will continue over ten years, after which the heater becomes the property of the consumer. A number of people have already taken advantage of this offer and inquiries are being made at the Hydro office every day. \ It is hoped that other steps will be taken during the year to keep the use of Hydro at a high level, every- body uses Hydro in one form or 'an-¢ other, and everybody gains if the cost is kept down, which is reflected by the refund from the H.E.P.C., of Ont. for 1957 of $1,064.88. : A by-law will be considered this | polyethylene utility pail when you buy one or more gallons of PITTSBURGH PAINTS GET YOURS TO-DAY AT year to form a Port Perty Hydro Commission, which would consist of three members, two to be elected by popular vote, the third member be- ing the Reeve. The council realize that by forming a Commission, some complications might occur, a point in favour of a Commission, would be, that the responsibility of running the Municipality would be divided, how- ever added burdens would be taken over, which are now handled by the Area Office. Several other matters would have to be dealt with before such a bylaw could be: passed. I hope that this report has been of | some interest to you. Any further developments will be reported, and any comments will be appreciated, Arthur T, Cox, Chairman, Port Perry Hydro Electric System. Central Ont, Unit 'Gains Membership 'Secretary-Treasurer A, E.
