Feb, 6 Canadian Club Dinner Meet Particularly interesting to amateur photographers will be the next meet- ing of Canadian Club of Ontario County to be held on Thursday; Jan. 30th, dinner at 6.30 p.m. at the Hotel Genosha, Oshawa. Speaker for the evening will be Ni- cholas Morant, special photographer attached to the Public Relations De- partment of the Canadian Pacific Railway for the past twenty years. Mr. Morant will present his lecture, "A Talk without Words", which: fea- tures pictures principally of the:Can- adian scene, ag well as some on Peru. |- The letture, in which Mrs, Morant assists, deals with the psychological effect that music has upon pictures, and includes the music of primitive and contempory Peru. E Mr. Morant, for several years; was |a newspaper photographer' fon: the Winnipeg Free Press, during which time he produced a number of very popular: scenic pictures of the Cana- dian: prairies gnd mountains. It was at that time the Toronto Satumday Night commended his efforts, saying he was "the most versatile photogra- pher in Canada". His photographs have appeared in all the leading; per- iodicals of our time, such as Tiife, Colliers, Saturday Evening Post; Na- tional Geograhic, London Times, front covers of Reader's Digest, on Cdna- dian postage stamps, playing cards, and even on a set of Wedgewood! din- nerware, The present Canadian ten: dollar bill is engraved from '& Morant photograph f During the war years, Mr. Morant was: loaned by Canadian Pacific to the: various government information services; where as a civilian, he worl ed with the Armed Forces and Indus- try; picturing the Canadian war fort. "In the course of his work, Mr. Mor- ant has been shot at by an alarmed sentry; missed death by inches while photographing a bayonet charge; was in an airplane which partly disinte- grated over Mount. McKinley in Alas- ka, and of course, was the principal in an amazing episode in which he at- tacked a grizzly bear, unarmed, leav- ing the safety of a tree to do 80, in an effort to save the life of a guide who. was his.companion, but who later died: of his wounds. Thé lecture Mr. Morant and his wife 'bring to the Canadian Club has been presented - throughout Canada and the United States--often with re- cord breaking results for attendance, It is hoped that all local members will be on hand to see and hear this out- standing presentation of color plec-| 'tures set to music at 'this month's Canadian Club dinner meeting, R Ormiston Heads Farm Management Association The re<organization meeting for the 'South: Ontario' Farm Management Association was held in the: Township Hall; Brooklin, on' Tuesday, January 14th. . !"
