Women's Institute met in the Par- ish Hall Wednesday night. Owing to the storm the meeting did not get started until 9 p.m. The ladies had collected candles from various places and were all set to carry on by candle light when we in 'Blackstock were fortunate to have power come on. Again a'good many parts of the town« ship did not have any hydro' until Thursday p.m. or evening, and some telephones are not repaired yet, 'tho the men are working hard to get some service through. The W.I. meeting opened in the customery manner. Mrs, H. Bailey gave a devotional paper, basing her thoughts on Dominion Day, Roll call "What I leave my family to eat when I go away" was quite inter- estingly answered by all. The motto was "Use the Talents you possess; for the woods would be very silent, if no birds sang except the best." Mrs. 8S. VanCamp gave a report of the Port Perry hospital 'auxiliary 'meeting. After considerable business re fall fairs; etc., was dealt with Mrs. Leith Byers gave the Current Events, Mrs. J. McKee read 'The Value of a Smile'. Norma Wolfe and four girls, Francis Staniland as hostess, Eilene Mount- joy as host; Nancy Staniland and Bon- nie Mountjoy as guests gave a demon- stration on "Serving a Salad plate meal", which was well done and "all enjoyed watching. This was followed by a contest on foods. After the clos- ing the group with Mrs. F, Staniland leader served lunch of ice cream 'and angel cake, Attendance 31. Sunday evening a large number of Orangemen and ladies gathered at the Lodge rooms and paraded to the Ang- lican church where Canon Chaperlin delivered a fine sermon.
