The next party will be April 27, and the committee will be Mr, and Mrs, Tom Sutherland, Mr, and Mrs. M, Storie and Mr, and Mrs. Ralph Wilbur, Mr, Fred Wilkinson had quite a suc- cessful sale of farm stock and imple- ments recently, Cedar Creek Last 'Wednesday morning the com- munity was saddened to hear of the sudden death of Ewart Diamond at Oshawa General Hospital, "The deceased, who was in his 60th year, had been a life long resident on the town-line and had attended Pro- spect school and was a member of Prospect United Church. He is survived by his wife, the for- mer Tsabelle Lee, and three daughters, Beth, Mrs. Stan Grills; Ruth, Mrs. Earl Follest; and Barbara; and two sons, Alex. and Frank and seven grandsons. Also surviving are two sisters, Jessie, Mrs. Josh Dobson and Frank, Mrs, Herman Walker and one brother Lionel. _Th& Rev. R. Vince. ; Mr, Vance and his 'wife, the former Georgena Coates, farmed on the farm now owned by Mr. and Mrs. John Po- powich at Shirley Corners, before they retired to Port Perry where they resided until- two years ago when Mrs. Vance "suffered a paralytic stroke. They moved to the Fairview Lodge at Whitby. Two weeks ago Mr, Vance broke his hip and at his advanced age, which was 92, it was too great a shock to him and he passed away on Wednes- day. Mr, and Mrs. Vance had been married 65 years. Funeral services were conducted by his minister, the Rev. R, H, Wylie. Interment was in Pine Grove Ceme-} et tery. ~ Pallbearers were Courtney. On page 44 in the Country Guide, a Winnipeg, Manitoba farm magazine, there is an interesting article entitled "These Slopes Now Hold Water." It tells how Ed. Oyler (Sam) has improved -his farm and how he has handled his erosion problems.
