Mary Brotherhood Joba Gravelle Wed In Columbus United Church last Saturday, Miss Mary Brotherwood be- came the bride of Mr. John Gravelle in a ceremony performed by the Rev. R. H. Rickard. The bride is the "| daughter of Mr, and Mrs. 'Thomas Brotherwood, Columbus and the bride- groom is the son of Mr, and Mrs. Mi- chael Gravellé, Oshawa. Pink .and white chrysanthemums formed the setting. played the wedding music, and accom- panied the soloist, Miss Beryl Palmer. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white French lace and carried a white prayer book adorned with peach-colored Talisman roses and ribbon streamers. The bride's sisters attended her. Miss Florence Brotherwood as maid of hon- or was in a ballerina gown of aqua nylon, and carried white chrysanthe- mums and yellow carnations. Miss Norma Brotherwood was in pink with pink and white flowers. Mr, David O'Neil Baird was the best man, and Mr, Albert T. Gravelle ush- ered, A reception followed at the home of the bride's parents, and later the couple left on a wedding trip to Nia- The bride travelled in a grey suit. Mr. and Mrs. Gravelle will reside on Stevenson's Road North Oshawa on their return, Silver Anniversary At Greenbank On Saturday evening, December 18, a surprise celebration was held for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lee, of Green- bank, on the occasion of their Silver Anniversary. After being away for the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Lee returned to find forty-five of their relatives waiting to shower best wishes on them. After a buffet supper was served to everyone, the happy couple was presented with many gifts which in- cluded a mix-master given to them by their children and a little silver candy dish which was given to them by their "| grandson. The remainder of the evening was spent by playing cards and reminesc- ing of the past years, Guests were from Toronto, Lindsay, Sunderland, Cannington, Blackwater, as well as from Greenbank. 000 On Sunday evening a Cantata was put on by the Junior Choir and the Young People's Union which was fol- lowed by a German Play entitled "The Boy in The Meadow". Everyone must be commended on their splendid work, especially Mr. and Mrs. Chapin, who led the play and the Cantata and Mrs. Keith Ferguson who did so wonder- fully well at teaching the music for the Cantata. We oxtend our sincerest sympathy to the Butson family on the death of their mother last week. and a presentation was held in Com- munity Hall for Mr. and Mrs, Ivon Spencer, who had the misfortune in "| 1008ing some of their possessions in a fire recently. Pi. Perry Rebekahs Visit Linisay Lodge The regular meeting of Kawartha Rebekah Lodge No. 76 took place in the Oddfellows Temple on Thursday evening Dee¢. 8th, The meeting was opened by the Noble Grand Sister Allva Carew. guard of honor formed and escorted the Noble Grand of Maybelle Lodge, Port Perry and degree staff to the al- tar where they were introduced by Sister Eva Shaw of Lindsay and wel- comed by the officers and members of Lindsay Lodge. Business was then continued with the reports of the various officers af- ter which the Port Perry degree staff. under the direction of Sister Grace Love proceeded to confer initiation on the candidates. While preparations were being made Sister Luella Kennedy of Port Perry sang two lovely solos accompanied by Sister Sadie Durkin. The degree was very capably enact- ed and after it was over Sister Ken nedy again favoured us with a lovely Christmas solo. Regular business was then proceed- ed with, Sister Ruby Washington moved a vote of thanks to Port Perry and it. was seconded by Sister Eva Shaw for the wonderful manner in which they exemplified the degree. with a beautiful white Bible in mem- ory of the late Sister Flora Brown. After the closing exercises all re tired to the ved hall where a de- lefous lunch was served by Sister Carrle Cuthbuert and her group, A Mrs. W. Scott.
