School Area Board MEETS AT MANCHESTER MAY 8th The Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved, A deputation of ratepayers from Prince Albert met the Board and pro- tested against having a -class room in the basement of the school building and. wanted to know how long this condition was going to last. . Some of the parents threatened to keep the children from school if there hs no change soon. it was not an ideal situation but it seemed the only solution at the time. The Board told the deputation that they would look into the situation and see what could be done to try and meet their wishes before the fall term. The matter of insulating the schools was taken up. - With so much time taken up with the deputations, this matter was left over to a future meeting, The Board decided to call for: tend- ers for the decorating of three schools in the area. : Various bills were presented and ordered paid. : Scugog Junior Homemakers At the final meeting of the Scugog Junior Homemakers for this season we were very happy to be able to wish Jean Samells 'Bon Voyage' as -| she gets off for a tour of Great Britain with 49 other girls from all across Canada. _ : We niet at the home of Ellouise Hog- gard and spent the afternoon finish- ing up our books and preparing for Achievement Day. At lunch the table was centered with a cake, beautifully decorated in pink and white with the words "Bon Voyage" incribed on it. 4O0n behalf of the girls Kay Preiitice presented Jean with two pairs of ny- lons and a plastic hosiery case for which she capably thanked all those . We were very happy to wel- come Mrs, Samells and 'Mrs. Douglas. Aldred who have both been very much interested and active in club work 'and | who spent part of the afternoon with us.
