King. Mrs, Ralph Wilbur of Utica is supplying at Epsom School this week for Mrs. Bruce Bailey, who is ill. Friends in this district were sorry to hear that Mr. Victor John- son of Whitby had passed away. We extend sympathy to Mrs. John- son (nee Hazel Griffen) and fam- ily-in their bereavement. Service at Epsom United Church on Sunday at 3.30 p.m. S. S. at 2. The Epsom United Church Sun- day School will be holding its 3rd Anniversary on May 18th at 2.30 p.m. Captain Irene Jones of the Uxbridge Salvation Army will be guest speaker. There will be the presentation of diplomas and seal's to the mem- bers of the Sunday School who have been present the required number of Sundays to win these awards. Mr. H, L, Fair, Agricultural Repre- sentative, outlined the names of the Club Leaders for the various Junior Clubs in the County, and indicated the length of time each had given leader- ship to his particular club. Certificates in recognition of five years or more of active Club leader- ship were given to Jack Pearson, Ux- bridge, R.R.2, Maustyn McKnight, Ux- bridge, - R.R.2, and Ross McMillan, Beavertoh, R,R.2. ' The guest speaker of the evening was Mr. R. G. Bennett, Associate Di- dector of Boys' and Girls' Club Work in Ontario. Mr. Bennett stressed the importance of Club Leaders in the community, and the necessity for the Club Leader to maintain the interest of the Club member not only during the Club Year, but all during the Club Age from 12 to 20 years. For ex- ample, he mentioned the value of Club Trips, or Club Visits to break down the members' and parents' resistance to-Club. Work. My. Bennett stressed the importance of good public rela- tion§ with the club members and parents to make them sce the value of Club Work as a means of promot- ing god. citizenship in a community rather than the monetary value de- rived from Club Work. Mr,- Bennett stated that it was im- portant that senior Club Members be trained as assistant leaders in order to maintain club work as an integral part of community life, and to create an incentive in people to be interested in the job they're doing. Mr, Bennett concluded his remarks by saying the farn problems are going to increase, farming will be more competitive, but club work will help the member to adapt himself to this competition. Mr. E. R. Jennings, assistant Agri- cultural Repre®entative, summarized the Junior Clubs in Ontario County, givings the sponsors, leaders and total membership in each. He stated that there were 14 Junior Clubs in the County, and that the membership totalled 250, The final feature of the programme was a 40-minute film on 4-H Club Work in the U.S.A,, shown by Mr. Stelk of the Allis-Chalmers Company. This film depicted in technicolor the exchange of visits of 4-H Club mem- bers with Junior Club members of several countries of Europe.
