Briscoe of Willow- dale and Mr. Robert Currie, Tor- onto were holiday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hedges. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Crozier of Dorset called en Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Crosier on Saturday . : Miss Anne McDermott, Toron- to visited Mr. and Mrs. Fred Christie over the week-end. Mrs. Dolloy Roberts spent the holidays with Toronto friends. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Moon, Raglan visited Myr. and Mrs, W. F. Cro- sier on Good Friday. In spite of rain, there was a good attendance at Church on Sun-; day morning. Dr. Fletcher's; Easter Message was inspiring and a Junior Choir of fifteen voices sang very sweetly with Mrs. Steer at the piano. son sang "Alone" in his usual pleasing manner. Lots of spring flowers decorated the Church and helped extend the Easter message. Congratulations to Dr. Donald and Mrs. Christie on the birth of their little daughter in Oshawa Hospital on Synday, April 18th. Mrs. A. Roach entertained ten tiny tots and their mothers last Tuesday in honor of her daughter Susan's third birthday. "Mr. and Mrs. Jackson of Cha- tham were with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McKee over the week-end. Other holiday visitors were, Mrs. Viola Schnapp, Buffalo and Mrs. Bain, Toronto with their brother Earl Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Barfoot, "Mrs. Fred Christie. Mr. Harvey Dob- | Wendy and John, Toronto, with Mr, and Mrs. A. Roach. Mr. E. W. Crosier, Bryon and Gerald, Toronto, with Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Crosier. Miss Betty Moore, Shirley, with Miss Muriel Lamb. The Euchre and Dance in aid of the Community Hospital, held in the hall last Thursday evening was a success. Fourteen tables of Euchre were played. Mrs. R. Heayn, Scugog won first prize for ladies and Mr. E. Weaver had high count for gentlemen. Mrs. R. Walker won consolation for ladies and Mr. Hugh Strong had the low count for gentlemen. Mrs. Toombs, Messrs. Robt. Cawker, Robert Wal- ker and Ed Donelly furnished ex- cellent music that kept the floor crowded with dancers. coffee was served. On Friday evening, April 25th another euchre and dance will be held in the hall for the hospital. Come and have a good time. Ad- mission only 856c¢. Cartwright Schodl Area The Board of Education, Cart- wright Area, met on April 9th with members all present. W. Marlow, chairman, in the chair. Minutes of previous meeting read and ad- opted. Resignation of Mrs. Roy Turner, as teacher in Blackstock Grades 1-2-8 school (on account of ill health) read. The Board in accept- ing the Resignation expressed re- gret at losing such a- valuable Teacher, and also that her health made it necessary to give up her School. The secretary to write a letter of appreciation to Mrs. Tur- ner for her splendid services for the past year. Mr. Turner was re-engaged as Teacher in Grades 7 & 8 School, and sec. instructed to see the other Teachers re next year. Sec. in- structed to advertise for a Teacher for Grades 1-2-3, Blackstock School. The Board to confer with the Inspector re age at which begin- ners are allowed to start to school. The board granted permission for the Canadian National Insti: through the schools during the Annual Campaign, April 28th to May 10th. Sec. to write Inspectors to a special meeting on Thursday ev- ening, April 17th. Trustees, W. Marlow and Joe Bradbur was appointed a commit- tee to interview Council at the next meeting of Council. Two Architects, one from Bow- manville, and one from Oshawa, made a friendly visit with the Bd;, and explained system of Archi- tect's Fees and regulations to be followed in drawing up Blue Prints and specifications for School and having same approved by Department of Education. SCUGOG A quilting bee was enjoyed in the Head Church on Monday by several of the neighbours. Congratulations to Mr. and Mus. Roy Hope on the birth of their little son <(John David) on April 10th, a little brother for Ronald, Helen, Lois and Jean. Both doing fine at the home of Mrs. Kerry. - Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Christie (nee Grace Dem- ara) on the birth of their little daughter, on Sunday, April 18th. The W. A. was well attended on Wednesday afternoon in Grace Church. The meeting was opened' by the president Miss Marjorie Milner. Mrs. Maurice Fralick read the Easter story. Mrs. M. King gave a very interesting topic, "The Keeper of the Spring". Miss Isobel Flewel favored with a solo, Murs. Alan Martyn gave an interesting talk on the Study Book. Mra. R. Tetlow and Mrs. G. Flewel will prepare the program for the next meeting. The Easter hymns were chosen for this meeting. A lovely supper was then served to a large crowd. A social time was enjoyed by all. Several viai- tors from Port Perry were made very welcome. The Scugog lake is clear of ice again. All are glad to hear that the fire in Mr. Alvin Heayn's house did not get out of control.
