EX PN re Jr. Farmer News ONTARIO JUNIOR FARMERS MEET IN BEAVERTON The Ontario County Junior Farm- er Association sponsored a meeting. in the Town Hall, Beaverton, on the evening of March 27. Approximate- ly eighty Junior' Farmer and Junior Institute members from the Brooklin, Port Perry, Uxbridge and Beaverton Clubs were present. The meeting was in charge of the president, Dorig- Risebrough., The meeting opened with the singing of 0. Canada, followed by a period of connnunity singing led by Jack Pear- son, Uxbridge and Betty Jean Me- Millan, Beaverton. Ross McMillan, Beaverton, was J elected to the position of County Di- rector on the Provincial Jr. Farmer Association, while Doris Risebrough, Uxbridge, and Earl Windatt, Beaver- ton were elected as delegates from the Ontario County Junior Farmer Asso- ciation to attend the Annual Meeting and_Conference of the -Provineial Jun- jor Farmers' Association to be held at' the 0.A.C., Guelph, in April. " The President, Doris Rikebrough, presented the Public Speaking Trophy to Mrs. Catherina Martyn for winning the Public Speaking Competition last December. Murs. Martyn represented Ontario County in the Provineial Jr. Farmer Public Speaking finals in To- ronto last January. Murray Holtby displayed four dif- ferent: types of baseball sweater and it was decided that each Junior Farm- er Club would buy different coloured sweaters, with each sweater to have the name of the club on the front of it_in gold, while on the back of each would be the wording 'Ontario County Junior Farmers'. Mr. H. L. Fair, Agricultural Repre- sentative, announced that again this year four Scottish Visitors would be guests of the Ontario Department of Agriculture and the Provincial Junior Farmer Association. One of the guests will spend two. weeks in On- tario County from May 24 to June 6, and arrangements were made to have him stay one week at the home of Ross . McMillan, Beaverton, and one week at the home of Bill Boyes, Pick- ering, Mr, Fair also announced that a Canadian delegation of four Junior Farmer members was going to visit Great Britain for a period of 6 weeks from June 1st to July 18th, and that cach County could send the name of one delegate. From this group, a selection committee made up of repre- sentatives of the Ontario Department of Agriculture will choose the four delegates to represent the Ontario Jr. Farmer Association.
