First the annual trophies were pre- sented: For the 'largest muskie en- tered, Mr. Stewart Collins, received the cup for a 16 pounder. This was presented by Mr. Osler. For the best bass, 4% pounds, Harry DeShane re- ceived the trophy from Mr. Smith, of Toronto. Reeve Hayes expressed his appre- ciation at being present, and mention- ed that the Council were anxious and winning to do what they can to further any improvements of lake water level, or any other improvements at the lake front, especially urging the Dominion Government to extend the breakwater. ** Mr, Smith, of Toronto, spoke briefly on the water level and the zoning of the province for duck hunting, Mr, Osler,. who controls the marsh at the south end-of Lake Scugog, ex- season for ducks and the preservation of wild life. He said the marsh was a great factor in the wold duck econ- omy of this district. He said the wild rice area was gradually being extend- ed. He voiced his appreciation of the ers for the kindly feeling they had shown toward him and their co-opera- tion in the preservation of the game laws. He -thought the season should open earlier in this district. 'Mr. Main, a member of the Wild Life and Conservation Squad, explain- ed the views of the Dept. and quoted statistics in regard to wild life pop- ulation, gun and hunting - licenses issued, forest fires, conservation mea- sures that should be used by all.
