Quickly and easily it keeps you in touch with everything and everybody everywhere. There are 400,000 more telephones and two million more calls a day than there were three years ago. And service is getting better all the time, In three years, however, costs of important raw ma- terials for telephone lines and cables have risen sharply. Copper prices have doubled, zinc and lead prices tripled. Yet, up to now, despite rising costs on all sides, there has been no increase in the basic telephone rates established 22 years ago. Few things give you so much real value at such low cost as your telephone. We've broken all records but there are still orders we. haven't been able to fill. We will keep right on working , and building to make your telephone service a bigger bargain than ever -- to continue to provide more and better service at the lowest possible cost. > +N THE BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY OF CANADA Mr. Hugh Rose gave an excellent address on Sunday morning, yaing for his theme "Do We Know God 1" ext Sunday service will be at 11 o'clock, instead of the usual time, 11.15. When a man adopts a flag, usually of his own de- sign, it is known as a private signal and only recognized by those fami- liar with the man and his boat. How- ever, most yachtsmen can spot a club burgee a mile away whether famil- iar with the boat wearing it or not. Thus we feel good to think that our burgee has been. seen' in Hamilton, Toronto and points east. We know it has been recognized because we have heard people say; 'Port Perry Yacht Club eh, they're getting around.' And so we are. The 38 foot cruiser 'Nyoda' cros- travels. Incidently, 'a burgee is a sed Lake Ontario and made up the Trent to Campbellford over the weck- end carrying our burgee with her. All concerned feel grand when they think that watchers will realize that we are not a Club content to stay in our own little lake and sail our own little way without a thought to what other yachtsmen are doing . Speaking of our own little lake we remember the thrill of cruising in lovely green water that extends a hundred fathoms below our keel, weed- less and mudless. They say it is a good scheme to have an inch of water under your keel at all times. It's a good scheme to go to bed with the birds too, but it's more fun to stay up several hours after that time. Handling and recording your chequing transactions is an i important job. Your bank must do it right --or a competing bank will. You'll see to that! : Suppose there were no competition . .. Could you 3 expect the same efficiency, courtesy, eagerness to earn your goodwill ? State monopoly of banks would open your bank account to the eye of the state official. YOUR . BANK !would be happier if some of the mud were taken out of Lake Scugog and we had three fathoms of water in- stead of the one and under we try to sail in now. We asked sailors in the R.H.Y.C. if they had any trouble with weeds and' mud banks. Of course not, and if they did they would sail in some other neck of the woods. Who can blame them? *. We certainly can't. Yet here we are, bringing in a great harvest of weeds on our rudders and having the time of our lives doing it.
