Plan now to bring your friends. CELEBRATE 46th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY 'Mr. and Mrs. James Moffatt cele- brated their 46th wedding anniversary on Thursday, March 4th at a dinner at the home of Mrs, R. M. Holtby. guests were Mr; and Mrs. W. W, Holtby, -Mr, and Mrs. Ernie Holtby, Mis, Ada Dobson. The guests pre- sented Mr. and Mrs. Moffatt with a lovely bouquet of flowers. Miss Annabelle Hillier, of Toronto, spent the week-end with 'her parents, Mr. and Mrs, W. R. Hillier. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Beare, of Clare- pie, were visitors: with Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Beare, on Sunday. 9 and "Mrs. Fred McIndoo and family, of Peterboro, were Sunday vigitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. .R. A. Peel. Miss Carolyn Abbott, New. Toronto, has been with relatives in Port Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Bert MacGregor are spending a few holidays in Beamsville with the former's brother, Mr. L. Mac- Gregor and family. A meeting of the Nurses' Auxiliary of Port Perry Community Memorial Hospital will be held at the home of Mrs" M. C. Morrison, on Thursday, March 18th, at 2.30 p.m. PORT PERRY YACHT CLUB The model sail boat contest spon- sored by the club is now under way with -entries coming in quite well. Don't forget boys, get your entries in early and get to work on your boat. Spring is on the way! The prizes for the contest will be on display shortly, and more information will be given! from time to time in this column. * * - With: the sailing season only weeks away--instead of months--interest is increasing in sailing plans for 1948. It is hoped that there will be-at least three classes racing this summer and as the sailing committee plans to race all classes at once there should be some interesting sights at the watet- front. The Club anticipates an in- crease to almost double the size of last year's fleet and in addition we will have a power boat squadron, been at a standstill through the winter months, with the coming of spring the ° sound of hammer and saw will soon be heard again. There is still consider- able work- to he done both inside and out, but it is hoped by early summer 'we will be ready to entertain guests. Two tennis courts are projected this year and are expected to be in oper- ation by early July. woe * * * We have been asked repeatedly in the last few weeks: "When is the Yacht Club going to hold another dance?" The answer to this will be found 'in next weck's column, so don't fail to look for it. JOHN'S FIRESIDE CLUB The Fireside Club of our Presby- terian Church met as usual on Monday evening, March 8th to enjoy a Social Evening in the "cosy" Sunday School room. .A devotional period of hymn singing and prayer opened the meet- ing. Correspondence was read from Gordon Sinclair and Gregory Clark 'expressing regret at their inability to visit the Club some future evening, for business reasons. Suggestions for a fashion show were discussed-- "No Peeking!" until then! The roll call showed several new members present. The President in- troduced a new "Smile" song which surely loosened up.o@r facial 'muscles. Mrs. Bentley presented a reading by] Drummond, "The Stonepipe Hole" in her usual delightful manner. Rody Hayden sang a fine solo "Serenade of the Bells" and an encore. Helen Wi lard's piano solo, "Sonata in F. major" by Mozart was beautifully. rendered. A good old sing-song of Irish melodies threatened bulging at the seams-- both people and church. You should have heard that Male Quartette sing "Old Black Joe". The meeting opened by singing one verse of Onward Christian Soldiers, followed by prayer by Mrs. Smith. Edna read the Scripture lesson which was the Mrs, Merva Clarke read two chapters of the Study Book, After the business part of the meeting, two of the girls left the room 'to. return in a few minutes with a sail boat load of small gifts for our hostess. Edna very surprised and pleased with the gifts which were articles to take with her on her trip to Scotland.
