Mr. and Mrs. James Read received a cable on Tuesday, stating that their son Victor, who has been in Italy for sometime is now in England. Mr, and Mrs. Alan Dowson were in Toronto for the week-end. The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, Reuben Harrison, of West 'Hill, was very charming in a pastel rose dressmaker suit, She chose brown accessories and had a corsage of roses and forget-me-nots. The bridesmaid was an intimate friend of Christina, Irene Jarmann, also of Ma- coun, Sask. She wore a gold dress of silk jersey and a corsage of sweet peas and forget-me-nots. The best man was a friend of the groom, Donald Gerrow, Port Perry, After the cere- mony the bridal party and guests motored to Oshawa to a tasty chicken dinner in the Grande Cafe, the table being centered by a prettily decorated wedding cake. Later the bride and groom motored to Toronto for their honéymoon, On their return they will take up residence on the groom's farm on Scugog Island near Port Perry. Local Oddfellows Holds Successful | Special Night : Warriner Lodge held meeting on Monday evening, March visitors in attendance. After the main business was taken care of the members adjourned to the banquet hall to participate in the so- cial part of the meeting. A splendid oyster supper was prepared by the re- freshment committee with the assist- ance of several ladies. During the supper an excellent program was given which consisted of community singing, duets by Bros, R. Foster and G. Beare accompanied by Mr. Bruce Hull and an outstanding address by Bro. J. Glad to hear the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy St. John is improv- ing after an operation in the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, . * &® ~ Mr. Robert Jackson a life long resi- dent of Scugog, was called to his home beyond on Saturday aftefoon, after a long illness. Mr. Jackson was born on the farm where he spent all of life of 74 years. The farm was cleared by his father, Mr. James Jackson, and the deed was in the Jackson name for 95 years. Mr. Jackson was of a quiet nature, but was a good citizen and neighbour, and his passing will be re- greted by all. Besides his' wife, he leaves to mourn his passing, four daughters, Mrs. Alfred Dowson (Bes- sie), of Port Perry; Mrs. Stanley Hope (Rena), of Prince Albert; Mrs, J. L. Sweetman (Mable), of Scugog Island; Mrs. L. Chamberlain (Aileen), of To- ronto. The funeral was held from his late residence, on Tuesday afternoon, The sympathy of the community is ex- tended to the bereaved family. * % % The Head Community Club was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Reader and took the form of a pot luck supper. The meeting was opened with a hymn followed by prayer by Mr, Cooke.. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mrs, E. Sweetman gave a reading, Rev. Mr, Cooke gave an interesting talk on cur- rent events, and the program con- cluded with a contest conducted by Anson Gerrow. The program commit- tee for the next meeting are Mrs. R. Brown and Mrs, C. Samells. Election of officers was also held and resulted as follows: President, Anson Gerrow; Vice - President, Mrs. E, Reader; pianist, Mrs. S. Rodman; asst, pianist, Mrs. T.
