Proprietor ANGLICAN HARVEST FESTIVAL The annual Harvest Thanksgiving services at the Church of the Ascen- sion, Port Perry, were held on Sunday, September 20th, as follows: 11 a.m, Matins and Sermon by the Ven, W. Simpson, Archdeacon of Peterboro; 3 p.m., Children's Service, conducted by the Rector; 7 p.m., Evensong and Sermon, by the Rev. Canon W. G. Nicholson, Rector of St. Clement's Church, North Toronto. The Scripture lessons, psalms, can- ticles, prayers and hymns used were those appointed in the Office "For the Blessings of the Harvest" in the beau- tiful liturgy of the Prayer Book. The Archdeacon of Peterborough in his helpful .germon spoke of the parable of harSest in our life and work; the Divine provision for His creatures; our daily experience as sharers in tlie fruits of the soil; and God's lavishness and bounty mani- festing His presence, and goodness and calling us to-thankfu)} and unsel- fish living. ' Canon Nicholson's sermon in the evening was based on the text of St. Paul: "lI thank God always." All were stirred by his interpretation of the meaning of thankfulness under all conditions and circumstances. The Canon spoke of thankfulness being good for our health; an essential in building a true character; and the inspiration of the highest Christian devotion, The special music by the Choir in- cluded the 13th Century Hymn of St. Francis sel to a vigorous 17th Cen- tury chorale; and the chorus "0 God, who in Thy heavenly hand" by Handel, parts, and Mrs, IF, McClintock was the organist. 3 = The evening recessional was the all our God" (17th Century), which has gained such popular use with its English translation, The response by the congregation to the Harvest appeal was most ge- nerous, Et a THE BULK SALES ACT In the matter of the Bulk Sales Act; and in the matter of Percival John Densham, formerly carrying on busi- ness under the firm, style and name of Devon Restaurant, of the Village! of Port Perry, in the County of Ontario.
