Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs, Almer Wallace, on the birth of a baby brother for Doris. Mrs. Mary Collacutt friends in Whitby. Pte. Fred Colbear of Camp Borden, spent the week-end with his parents Mr. and Mrs. L. Colbear. Miss Pat Jackson of Toronto, was home for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wilkinson of Ux- bridge, were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Cook. Mr. Duncan Sinclair of Ottawa, was the guest of his sister Mrs. S. E. Allison this week. Mr. M. M. Statton of St. Catharines spent the week-end with friends in town. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Heayn spent Sunday with relatives on Scugog. Mr. Geo. McKay spent a few days in Toronto last week. } Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Ward, of Whitby, were visiting friends in Port Perry and Honeydale last Sunday. Mr. Wm. Milner has been quite ill; but we are pleased to know he is im- proving in health, Mr. Frank Dawes, of T¢ronto, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W.-M. Letcher, on Sunday. Miss Helen Bly, of Toronto, took the solo part in the anthem at the United Church on Sunday morning; and gave another vocal sclection. Her service was much appreciated. The Junior Auxiliary were enter- tained at a supper at the Parish Hall on Tuesday night. In spite of the bad snow storm twenty-five were present. Miss Comber took charge of the games after which slides were shown, Rev. Wm. and Mrs. Stocks were pre- sent. All enjoyed the evening. Misses Margaret Hayes and Dorothy Robinson of Toronto, spent the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. E, Hayes. Miss Marjory Wagner has returned to her home in Toronto. Mr. Wm. Kaufman has been spend- ing a few days with his daughter in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wannamaker of Toronto, called on the former's par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Wannamaker. Mr. Harry Brooks, of Montreal, called on Mr. and Mrs. W. Cook and 'the former's mother, Mrs. R. Brooks. Pte. Russell Trebell of Fort Henry, Kingston, is visiting his mother Mrs. Thos. Trebell. Mr. Arthur Nott, who is employed at R. B. Corbman's farm near Utica, was home with his mother, Mrs, G. Nott, on Sunday. Mrs. F. J. Goodman of Rosedale, who has been staying at Cricklewood Lodge, is now visiting her sister in Toronto. . COIN BAGS A year ago many of the homes in Port Perry kindly consented to con- tribute to the war work through the medium of coin bags given out by the Scugog Chapfer, LO.D.E, Over $1256.00 was collected by the C.G.LT. girls during the year. The pennies and nickles do count up and in no easier way could this amount of money be raised. > The. Chapter are asking you to con- tribute for another year. They are very grateful for your help. If there are any who did not have a bag last year and are willing to take one, will you let Mrs. A..Brock or Mrs. W. H. Harris know. The Boy Scouts under the Leader- ship of Rev. Wm. Stocks, will call the last week in each month with their Red Cross sealed tins for your con- tribution. WAR WORK ACTIVITIES Friday, November 20th being the last war work afternoon in the month, will all ladies having finished articles for the bale please bring them to the rooms. The Scugog Chapter LO.D.E. con- gratulate the Yacht Club on the suc- cess of their dance on Friday evening last and wish to thank them for their generous contribution of $5.00 to the War Work. The War Work Committee are in need of more sewing machines, Any- one having a sewing machine not in use, the loan of it would be greatly appreciated. MARRIED Armstrong-Fallis The home of Mr, and Mrs. Arthur Armstrong, Peterboro, was the scene of 'the marriage of their only-daughter Ladra Marie to Arnold O. Fallis, also of Peterboro, on Saturday, November 16th, 1940, . The bride, given in marriage by her father, looked charming in a full length white eyelet embroidered taf- feta gown with a shirred bodice caught with white velvet bows and an embroidered veil. She carried Better- time roses. : . Rev. V. E. R. Zufelt of Knox United Church, Peterboro, officiated. The bridesmaid, Miss Marian Timm, of Peterboro, wore blue embroidered silk net over taffeta and matching velvet turban, She chose Talisman roses for her bouquet. The happy couple motored to Wind- sor for -their honeymoon. They are now residing in Port Perry where Mr. Fallis is employed. MRS. H. H. ARMSTRONG DIES SUDDENLY. N Death came with terrible sudden- ness to Mrs. H. H. Armstrong (wife of Dr. H. H. Armstrong) on Sunday afternoon last. Without warning the unfortunate lady was stricken with a heart .attack and died almost imme- diately. Although Mrs, Armstrong has only been a resident of Port Perry for a comparatively short time, she has earned the highest respect and good- will of all who came in contact with her. The sincerest sympathy of the com- munity is extended to the bereaved family. YACHT CLUB PRESENTATION DANCE The invitation dance of the Port Perry Yacht-Club was held at the High School last Friday evening and proved an unqualified success which was very gratifying, fully justifying the enthusiasm of this body of young men and women, ated jin nautical style, and was a pleasing backgrobnd to. the many at- tractive dresses of the ladies. The high light of the evening was a broom dance held to raise funds for the 1.0. D.E. war work. 'The brooms were later auctioned off by Mr, Ted Jack- son and the-sum of five dollars was raised toward the fund. Presentation The presentation of prizes was an- other feature of the dance. Splendid trophies were donated by the Business, Men's Association, and Lions' Club. The Lions Club trophy for senior skimmer, Class A, was pre- sented to Gleen MacMaster by Rev. W. J. H. Smyth, President of the Club. The Founders Cup for Class A, Jr, presented by the seven founders of the Club--D. Shepherd, G. MacMaster, B. Kent, H. Brooks, John Orde, P. Orde and Bill Baker, was presented to Jack MacGregor by D. Shepherd. As attractive prizes for the winners of the Ladies' Class A, was presented to Miss Carman Blewett by B. Baker, Fleet Captain. A bit of humour was injected into the proceedings by the presentation of the Driver's Cup for Inverted Sailing. This consisted of an ornate Loving Cup made from tin funnels and other items of hardware. This was won jointly by Bob Allen, Bev. Kent, Bruce Beare, B. Davies, G. MacMaster and G. Waridel.
