TO TWO ot a "TO TURN CLOCKS AHEAD ONE HOUR (Oshawa Daily Times) Centres Which Turned Clocks Back Must Revert to 'Fast' Time Ottawa, Sept. 24--Officials in the Department of Munitions and Supply declare municipalities of Ontario and Quebec which had reverted to stand- ard time before the continuation order for daylight saving was announced last Friday, must revert to "fast" time. . The Order-in-Council covering this electrical power conservation move was made public to-day, but it added nothing to information covered in the Government statement issued late on Friday. All municipalities of Ontario and Quebec which were on daylight saving time during the summer months must continue indefinitely. This applies to those which turned the clocks back be- fore the order was issued. One town in that category, Arn- prior, inquired on this point yesterday and, on instructions of H. J. Syming- ton, power controller who operates from his Montreal office, it was ad- vised to revert at once to daylight saving time. Hamilton which had al- ready reverted to standard time, re- turned to "fast" time during the week end. Registration of Firearms The Provincial Police Offices have already distributed forms for. the. re- gistration of 366,350 firearms. We have on hand, reecived from Ottawa, additional forms to register 44,000 firearms. These forms are be- ing distributed daily and as required. = Although it has always been the law that revolvers and pistols must be registered, a number of these weapons are now coming to light and are being registered. 971 persons were originally author- ized to register firearms. An ad- ditional 29 have been authorized to meet special circumstances. There are now 1,000 persons authorized to register firearms. With the extension of the period to register until September 30th, there should be ample time for every person to register his firearms. Accordingly, there will be a close check-up after September 30th. G. D.
