He is now with aircraft department. -_o-------------- CHURCH NEWS | Open Air Service "at the Lakeside For some time a number of our citizens have felt that a Sunday even- ing lakeside service has possibilities that should be given consideration. Consequently an Open Air Community Service will be held at Palmer Mem- 'orial Park, Port Perry, on Sunday, July 7th, at 7.30 p.m. Daylight Saving Time. It is expected that Mr. Robert Wag- staffe, of Oshawa, who has sung here before with delight to all who head him, will be the soloist. Mr. Fred R. Beatty, Mr. H. Durkin, and Mr. V, P. Stouffer, and others will assist in the leadership of singing. A joint choir will be in attendance, and loud speaker equipment will carry "the service to all whp assemble. On opening the cake the prospective bride found she had received a pretty breakfast set. Other gifts in pyrex were also presented and Miss Dowson thanked the neighbours grasiously. and all enjoyed a very pleasant time. MARRIED DeShane-Dowson Last Saturday, June 29th, the wed- ding took place when Edna Mayrienne Dowson, daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. Alfred Dowson, became the bride of Harry L. DeShane, son of Mr. and Mrs Norman DeShane, Port Perry. In spite of the stormy' weather of the past week the day chosen for .the happy event proved bright and sunny. The wedding took place at Prince Albert eqnducted by Rev. J. Denny. Mr. Henry Dodd, Port Perry, was groomsman and Mrs, Margaret J. Dodd, bridesmaid. The bride was gowned in dusty rose and white hat with accessories and her attendant was dressed in mauve with white hat and accessories. The happy couple left to spend a sMort honeymoon with friends at various points of interest and returning will make their home at Port Perry. Rev. Jas. A. Miller, B.A., uncle of the bride, who officiated at the marriage of the bride's parents nearly twenty- five years ago, conducted the cere- mony, dard's of .evergreens decorated the house. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was charmingly gowned n heaven blue crepe with matching lace jacket, and. her silk embroidered veil was held with a coronet of orange blossoms, worn by the bride's mother at her own wedding. For travelling the bride wore an eggshell ensemble, white hat with 'matching accessories, and carried a blue coat. After a byffet luncheon the couple {left for Muskoka and a cottage on the Bruce Penisula and on their return they will live at "The Maples", Sun- derland.
