THAT OLD GRAVEYARD 1 wandered in the grave yard Hundreds of milés away To read upon the head stones Of friends who passed away. I had a brother buried there, And little sister dear, And knew she would run to bless me, If she knew that I was here. I saw a shady maple tree And under it a lot And the words were written on the stone: "Dear friends, forget me not." My mind reverted back to me Some sixty years or more And I remembered helping bear her To that graveyard by the shore. And I remembered well The day before she died And the words she said to me As I sat by her side. With trembling hand she placed in mine . A token she loved dear And said, "My darling Charley, Please, place it on me here." And as I pased out through the gate, For tears I 'could not see The wording on the headstone Under the shady maple tree. And as I saw so many more Of friends I loved so well, The emotion that came over me The words I cannot tell. Charles Tupper, Croswell, (Handed in by W. J. Oke, Enniskillen 1 --_-- to > BEAVERTON SEEKS ADVICE, ON VOTE Whether or not a vote will be held option, which would open the way for the opening of beverage rooms to sell beer and wine, was doubtful as the town officials investigated the proper legal procedure to be taken. At a council meeting last week, a petition was called to the attention of Reeve Doherty and the members, 'which requested the Council to submit to the electors the question of local option repeal. It suggested that a plebiscite be held on the following question: "Are you in favor of the sale of beer and wine under the pro- visions of the Liquor Control Act?" Action on the matter was deferred to give officials a chance to obtain legal advice as to the correct procedure to be taken on the matter. In the meantime, temperance forces are preparing to organize and indications are that if a vote is taken there will be a strong campaign waged against opening any bars which would open the way for the further sale of liquor, Regret that the issue has been raised at all was expressed to the Council by Rev. Mr. McCrimmon, He stated that there would be strong op- position to any action which might be taken which would not be in the interests of temperance. -- te IN MEMORIAM TREVARTON--In loving memory rest May 20th, 1932, Some may think we have forgotten When at times they see us smile But they little know the heartache That the smile hides all the while.
