Information to the Live Btock _ Exhibitors, For the past few years there has been sonie unpleasant remarks about the use of our stables and box stalls on the grounds, and I think a word of explanation might be very good at this time. 'A few years ago Port Perry was noted for jts ice races, but through the lack of co-operation and donations this winter sport had to go out of business with $2560 in the bank. Soon after the Fair Board was com. pelled to build a new stable, and Mr, Collacutt as President of the Ice Races, gave the Fair Board that money to provide a set of box stalls on the south side of the new stables, these stalls were for the sole use of race horses as long as there were races at the Fair Grounds, To the exhibitors in the main build- ing for the past few years, Mr, Dyer of Columbus has favoured us with his very beautiful display of flowers, which is.a credit to Mr. Dyer; and a compliment to a small fair, such as we have at Port Perry, as it puts the finishing. touches on, as you all know. However, there has been some un- pleasant remarks - passed, such as "there is no use of showing against Mr. Dyer" "Granted". Now Mr. Dyer wants it known that from now on he will not be an exhibitor at Port. Perry Fair even though he decides to put on a display which we all hope he will, With Mr. Dyer dropping out we hope the locals will step in and fill the gap that has been such a credit to our fair. For the past few years we have been trying to improve our grounds, build- ing and prize list, for the benefit of the exhibitors, but it has been a very up-hill proposition, and we spend each year all our finances will permit. ' We have gotten away from the tents and and-display tables and electric lights, which are much better than some of the so called big fairs can boast of having for their exhibits; this no doubt accounts for the wonderful in- creased display every year. We have also changed some of the old rules for new, and better management, and I believe every fair minded exhibitor is well pleased with the changes.' Per- sonally'I wish' to thank the exhibitors for their support along those. lines, and more especially this last two years of bringing their goods in the back door to the counter. _ Trusting we can all work together with that hearty co-operation for a bigger and better fair year after year: and suggestions to that end are quite in order and will receive every con- sideration and support of the Board, as far as our finances will permit, and hoping for better weather for next | year. : N.
