As the score was 3-2 it indicates just how closely con- tested the game was, and it was any- one's game until the last man was out in the ninth inning. The first thrill of the game started in the first inning, Hertikese, the lead- off man for Beaverton, singled, then Edwards grounded to Philips, who threw to S. Beare on 2nd, relayed the ball to first--a nice double play-- Philips to S. Beare to O. Beare. The play wavered back and forth until the third when .Gibson- reached first on an error and scored on successive hits by Cornish and McGill. Beaverton forged ahedd in the fifth, when an error and a walk placed two Beaverton men' on the runway, and a"single by Harran scored them: * 'In the seventh inning with two out Philip reached first on' an error, a single by S. Beare, ad- vanced him to 3rd, and he scored on another single by O. Beare. Going into the last half of the 8th, with the score tied, Williams, the first man up, flied out, then Cawker singled and advanced to second on Gibson's single. The zero hour was at hand and the next move was up to our "wee" short-stop, and Roy came through nobly with a lovely: single that scored Bill Cawker with the win- ning run, Williams, the winning pitcher, struck out seven and passed two, and allowed five hits. West for Beaverton, pitched steady ball but the support he re- ceived was not up to par. He struck out ten, and allowed seven hits. Left on bases-- Port Perry 8, Beaverton b.
