Gibson, Brock Tp., Destroyed by Fire A disastrous fire took place o: the farm of James Gibson, two mile east of Wilfred last week-end, re sulting in a very heavy loss. Mr. Gibson had a fine big barn and threshing operations were o1 when. in some manner the straw stack went up in a flame, supposedl) from the engine. Despite the promp action of the men, they had just tim to rescue the threshing outfit in th barn, and three horses, from th stables. The loss included 17 fa pigs, brood sow, 3 calves, ahout 10' hens, gasoline engine, most of th implements and all the season' crop. Only $2,000 insurance wa carried on the barn and $1,600 o the contents the total of whic! would not replace the fine barn, Mr. Gibson's farm is on the 12t) con. of Brock, in a very fine sectio of the country. Make Money (Continued from pare i) crease in the cost of pumping. water pumped to the G. T. R | ing the month of August cost th | commission only about $50, whic is approximately the monthly cos | tor the G.T.R. water. The rail | way, however, pays $250 for th. | water it consumes. Last mont} there was an increase of about $7( in the cost of pumping as compared with July, part of which was due tc | increased water consumption on ths | part of the town. The water is sold to the railway | at eight and a half cents a thousand | gallons. The check received eacl { month from the railway also help lin reducing the cost of pumpin per gallon. Councillor T. Hawkes complainec | at the same meeting that the nortt {end of the town is handicapped ir its water supply, due to the fact tha' | the town delivers water to the Grand Trunk Railway. In drder to solve water works au thorities plan to shut down on the | yaive which supplies the G. T. R In this way it will reduce the draught om the water mains whicl means that the water supply 'to the north end will hereafter be muc) improved over conditions in thr past and the water tank at the sta- tion will not be filled so rapidly a heretofore.
