OSHAWA, ONTARIG, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1922 Oshawa and District No Change Locally While changes in the time table of the Grand Trunk Railway took place last Sunday and changes are scheduled to occur in the time tables of the Canadian Pacific Railway to- morrow, no trains passing through Oshawa are affected, Dies In Whitby, Alphonso Edward Lafete, for some years a resident of Port Whitby, died late Tuesday, after a brief ill- ness, He was employed at the On- tario Hospital there, and was active in several Pont Whitby associations. He was Treasurer of the South Ward Ratepayers' Association, and a mem- ber of the Sons of England and the 'Oddfellows. Coal Now Coming In The first eoal to reach Cobourg on the ferries for about two months came over on Saturday last, seven cars of coal for commercial firms being handled, Coal is now com- ing over at the rate of 25 cars a day, while empty coal cars are he- ing rushed over as fast as the boats can carry them, Holiday Traffic Heavy Hundreds of Oshawa people went to Toronto on Labor Day to help swell the attendance figures at the Canadian National Exhibition to 190,- 000, The Grand Trunk Railway re- ports that the traffic over their lines between Oshawa and Toronto was heavier than last yeur and that a large crowd, went up to the Queen City. The Canadian Pacific Railway ran a special train from Trenton on Labor Day morning and every one of the seven coaches was crowded. Harvest Home Festival The Commanding Officer of the local Salvation Army, Brigadier G.
