Sir Adam Beck had nothing to ad¢ | tonight to the official statement, be- stating that the questions had been settled. The {ment will be laid before the | Commission for execution. | i yond at {issue agree Hydr: TARIFF TINKERING The classic example of the wa) ! American tariffs are made was the case of the Representative who voted (against every duty until he got tc the letter "Z."" He then became ar advocate of high protection, for ther: was a zinc mine in his district. It is no wonder that tinkering with the tariff is one of, the surest roads tc the defeat of the party that does it The country as a whole, even though it believes in protection, can never be satisfied with a tariff produced by peanut politics. The details of cus- toms duties belong by nature to non political economic experts. STATE | ABSOLUTELY TRUE! Teacher--Algernon, when best time to gather fruit? "These are filled with the forms of animals and other things and the public will be able to see birds, flags, figures, ani- mals, etc., dropping from above. Wednesday is the big day of the convention and the local men are even now engaged in painting up and repairing the old hand hose reels for the races, where they expect to come out in front. Lime was scattered throughout these builc- ings in what appeared to be a premed- itated way, but it is of little use. Com- plaints in this regard will be received until such time as modern up-to-date conveniences are installed. No amount of disinfectant will do away with the stench emanating from the saturated boards. But while complaints have been re- ceived regarding these conveniences, the lavatory for men west of the grand stand is in a condition a thousand times worse. It has not drawn the same amount of criticism as it is fur- ther from public view and use. This lavatory apparently has not been cleaned for more than a year. This is one condition that is crying for adjustment and if the situation is not soon rectified the Parks' Commis- sion will surely hear from the pub- lic. : Alexandra Park is in close proxi- mity to water mains and modern con- veniences can easily be installed there, The committee of the Parks' Commis- sion that has been appointed to con- fer with 'the South Ontario Agricul tural Society regarding the advisabil- ity of installing modern equipment should hold its joint meeting in the present buildings. Only one result would be reached and that would be arrived at unanimously.
