Gordon whose farm buildings were destroyed by fire some months ago has replaced them with a fine new barn and silo.- Mr. J. W. SEAGRAVE ve, Oct. 18--The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies' Aid of the United Church was held at the home of Mrs, Hiram Wannamaker on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 17th, with the president, Mrs. James Shunk, in the chair, There were thirty mem- bers and visitors present, as well as a kindergarten of little children that made it lively outside as well as in- side. The usual business being trans- acted. The result that the annual fowl supper and concert will be held on Nov. 12th in the church. _ Also special services on Sunday. Partic- hv later. Mrs. Howard Leask and Mrs. James Harding sang a duet that was well received. Mrs. Albert Mar- tin then took charge of the Mission- ary meeting which is held in con- nection with the Ladies' Aid work. Woolridge sang a solo very pleasingly, making the afternoon a -very pleasant one as well as bene- unch was served at the close ' Se Town Hall, at Bowmanville. They were welcomed by a full house and all who attended were amply reward- ed, for the play was given in a very excellent manner. Each and every player acted his or her part well and to pick a star from the cast would 'he practically an impossible task. We hope that the judges "sere also favour- able impressed and that our young people will be the witiners in the contest. We heartily congratulate them on their success of Friday night. They have several invitations to pre- sent their play at other places, the next 'being in Oshawa on Tuesday evening, October 23. EBENEZER Ebenezer, Oct, 22--The weather on Sunday was ideal and services at Ebenezer church and Sunday school were splendid and were well at- tended, Our pastor, Rev, Mr, Stain- ton, was present and preached won- derful sermons in the church services, His morning text was found in Isaiah 45-15 and in the evening service he began a series of sermons on the "Religions of the World," the first subject being »"India and Her Re- ligions." Both of Rey, Mr. Stain ton's discourses were very fine and were appreciated by the goodly num- ber attending the services, The choir added to both services by the music which they rendered. Sunday school was also well attended and all eg- joyed a helpful study period in their different classes. : The regular monthly meeting of the Mission Circle for the month of October was held on Saturday af- ternoon, October 20, at the home of Miss Velma Gay, The program which was in charge of Miss Hazel Rundle's group was good, the subject of study being Home Missions. Readings and singing made up the remainder of the very interesting program. We hear that the girls were well on the way toward their objective in the fi- nancial phase of their work and we wish them continued success. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked lovely in a gown of white georgette with veil and orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Her only attendant was little Miss Miriam Richards, who acted as flower girl in a frock of pink silk and carrying a basket of pink roses. The church was beautiful with autumn flowers, Miss Helen Mellon played the wedding music and during the signing of the register, a violin solo was played by Mr. Victor Stauffer.
