Some of the Mission Circle young ladies were present and their services in helping with the lunch were appreciated by the ladies. Gale and Mrs. Sam Trick, of Osh awa and Mr, Gale was kind enough to motor hem fown and after- s come em. a Kenneth Courtice who has been spending a week or two with her brothers and unmele in Detroit has' returned home. Congratulations to. Mrs. A. F. Rundle on receiving thirteen prizes Oshawa Fair and fifteen at ne Fair on her exhibits several of them being first prizes. The funeral was held on Saturday. The Home and School Club will meet on Thursday evening Sept 27 at 8 o'clock. The old business will be finished first after which there will be an intermission for the books to be audited and new mem- bers received. Rowe on Friday evening to spend a social time together before moving into Whitby. Entirely unknown to them they gathered one by one and dur- ing the evening Rev. Mr. Richards called the gathering to order and the following addresses were read to Miss Lillian Rowe. Spokane, Sept. '22.--A plan to loot all the Roman Catholic and Episcopal churches of Spokane was thwarted yesterday when a sturdy Catholic priest caught the robber in the act, chased him and brought him to the police station, officers reported. . The Rev, Father John Cronin, St. Augustine's church, surprised C. S. Moser, 60, of Portland, Ore., as he was robbing the poor box of the church, the father said. Police searched Moser and found a list, they said, of all Catholic an Episcopal churches in the city, Moser admitted' entering churches and robbing the boxes, police said. the poor REVISED STATISTICS OF CANADA'S TRADE Ottawa, Sept. 20.--Revised trade figures for the five months ending August show imports for that period of $520,355476 and exports of $522,- 141,547, with foreign exports of $I.- 411,196. For the twelve months end- ing August, 1928, the imports were $1,066,926,580, and for the correspond- ne previous twelve months they were $976,886,332, while exports were for these respective periods $1,246,925,399 and $1,323,180,712, Duty collected for the five months was-$80,899,386, com- pared with $71,504,796 for the corres- ponding previous period. Favorable trade balances are declining as for years ending August, they were: 1925, $305,569,971; 1926, $360,270,998; 1927, $197,622,173, and 1928, $138,211,793.
