Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brown, Mr, Brown, Sr., and Miss Woodword, and Mr. Tilling, all attended the Toronto Exhibition and also the swim on Wednesday. Mrs. Gomme and children, Gert- rude, Stanley and Ernest, and Mrs. Payne, and Miss Brains, Colborne street, were all visitors of Mrs. p. Vallant this week. Miss Gertrude Fice and her grandmother, Mrs. Fice, Sr., havo gone for a visit to Rochester. Somre young people of Oshawa held a corn roast on the grounds of Mrs. P. Vallant's home. Mrs. Nellie Dearborn, has re- turned from a visit to Tara and Owen Sound. Master 'Ford Bennett has been ill with the flu. We hope he 1s soon better, The new edition of the S.S. No. 11, not being completed, school did not open on September 4. Mr. Everett Barrett of Hilton, N.Y., visited his uncle, Mr. Stan- ley Moffott, last week. Mrs. Mof- fott accompanied him home and will remain for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Barrett. Miss Verna Beckett underwent an operation in the Oshawa Gen- eral Hospital on Tuesday for nose trouble. We are glad to say Ver- na is at home now and getting along nicely. Mrs. Fred Wilson and 2 daugh- ters, of Oshawa, spent the holiday with Mrs. Manning. Miss Frances Barrett returned home from Rochester on Saturday after a weeks visit with Mr. and Mrs. Fox. Mr. and Mrs. Fox and children returned with her for over the week-end. Those who had radios followed the swim closely on Wednesday. Many were sorry when George Young was taken from the water. Mr. George Glover, of Belleville, is visiting this week with reldtives here and in town.
