They are essentially the same as last year, with little varia- tion. All exhibits except horses and cattle must be on the grounds by § o'clock Tuesday afternoon, the frst day of the fair, while these animals must be placed by noon on Wednesday. No exhibits may be removed before § o'clock Thursday afternoom, the last day of the fair, the regula- tions state. The text of the rules follows: 1. The Oshawa Fair will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, September 11, 12 and 13 1928, Tuesday is exhibitors: day only. Wednesday and Thursday are show days. 2. Competition will be open to all except when otherwise specifi: ed in the Prize List. 3. The annual membership fee will be $1.00, and each exhibitor must purchase a member's ticket before making entries, a registered firm being regarded as one exhibi- tor, 4, All persons desirous of en- tering stock, ete, for competition should make application to the Secretary at least one week previ. ous to the first day of the Fair, 6. In the Horse, Cattle, Sheep and Swine Classes, the entry must in every instance be made in the name of the bona-fide owner, and unless this rule be observed no premium will be paid. If any per- son shall exhibit an animal of which he is not the bona-fide own- er, he shall forfeit all premiums which may be awarded him, and be precluded from exhibiting for one or more years, If any doubt arises on the subject, proof will be re- quired, In such cases the exhibi. tor may be called upon to make a statutory declaration, Exhibitors will please note the special rules at the head of each Department in the Prize List. These will be strictly observed hy the Society, 6, In all classes, fruits except- ed, entries must be made in the names of the producers or many- facturers only, and by such pro- ducers or manufacturers thems selves in person or their properly suthorized agent, If any person shall exhibit any produceor mranu- factured article or exhibit of any kind in any of the Departments other than those named in Rule 5, of which he is not the bona-fide owner he shall forfeit all premiums which may be awarded him, and be precluded for one or more years, It any doubt arises on the subject, proof will be required by the So- ciety. All horses and eattle must be on the grounds by 12 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12th, and remain until the close of the Fair. Exhibitors may stable horses off the grounds if there is no room, but they must he on the grounds both days for show purposes. 9. No animal shall be allowed to compete in more than one class or section, except in case of spe- elsls, sweepstakes, or when shown in pens or herds. 10. All articles intended for competition must be in strict aec- cordance with the Prize List. Any entry disqualified under this rule should be so marked by the Super intendents of the Departments. Horses of ages should be exhibited on the halter or in har. ness as required. Cattle of all ages should be shown on the halt. er, Swine and sheep shall be con. fined in pens. Owners shall cum. ply with such minor regulations for their safe custody and fair and complete exhibition as the Chair- man of the Department may order on the day of the Show. 12, The registration certificate of all animals shown in the pure bred classes must be produced in the show ring when demanded, For animals under one year the nam of the animal and the name and record number of the sire and dam will be accepted when given in writing, In all breeding classes of live stock male animals must be pure bred. 13, Ages of beef cattle, sheep and swine shall be computed to the 1st day of September, 1928, dairy cattle to the 1st day of August, 1928, Ages of horses shall be com- puted to the 1st day of January, 1928, 14, Exhibitors of horses, cattle and sheep must bring them for- ward without special call, accord- ing to the program to be printed which will be strictly adhered to, otherwise they will not be consid- ered, 15. No animal or article deem- ed unworthy shall be awarded w premium, No premium shall be withheld merely because there is no competition, but the Judge shall award the grade of premium ac- cording to the merits of the ani- mal or article exhibited. Settlement of Protests 16, All protests will he settled by the Executive Committee, Any exhibitor lodging a protest must make it in writing, and it must be delivered to the Secretary or his assistant, within one hour of the time of making the award, It must state plainly the cause: of complaint on appeal and must be accompanied by a deposit of $2.00, which sum «shall be forfeited to the Association if the protest be not sustained, hut this provision shall not preclude the vight of any Director or Judge to bring any case of fraud in on exhibitor before the notice of the Executive officers for their consideration, and in which case the Executive Commit- tee reserves full right to act in the premises as fully and to the ex- tent as If a formal protest from improper or malignant motives shall be precluded from exhibiting for two years therefrom. 17 Deeinton of Judges shall he final, and no protest or appeal will be entertained except in cases of fraud, deception or dishonest prae- tice in the preparation or owner- ship, or in any misrepresentation concerning any animal or article exhibited which may have affected, or attempted to affect, the deel- sion of the Judges, or upon the discovery of any fraud or decep- tion in making an entry, or entries, on the part of any exhibitor. The payment of all prizes awarded to said exhibitor shall be withheld and they shall be probibited from exhibiting for one or more years and the names (may) be publish- ed. Any prize or prizes so with- held shall be awarded as though such exhibitor had not shown or exhibited. No Interference with Judges 18. Any person who attempts to interfere or influence the Judges while in discharge of their duties, or at any time uses any contempty- ous or abusive language to ga Judge, or within his hearing, in consequ- ence of any award made by him, shall forfeit his right to all prem- fums to which he might otherwise be entitled, and be excluded from exhibiting for one year thereafter. Judges are particularly requested to report any breach of this rule. 19. The entry form shall con- tain a statement that all informa- tion given and statements made by exhibitors are true, and that the exhibitor agress to be governed by the rules and regulations of the exhibition. 20. No person or persons shall be allowed to display any badges or prize ticket secured at any other Fair until such time as the awards have been made. 21. Grain must be the growth of the current year. Grass and clov- er seed may be the product of the current year or vious year, 22, In the Ladies Work Depart- ment no article will be allowed to compete that has ever been award. ed a prise at any previous exhibi- tion of this Association, If the question be raised as to the Ex- hibitor's production, ownership or right to compete, the exhibitor shall, if the Judges so require, make a statutory declaration that the article in question is the pro- duction and property of the ex- hibitor and has not been awarded a prize at any previous exhibition of this Association, 23. No animal or article exhibit- ed shall be removed from the grounds until § o'clock in the evening of the last day of the ex- hibition, All horses and cattle winning prises must be brought out and take part in the Grand Parade before the Grand Stand on Thursday afternoon, September 13th, 1928, at 4 p.m, Tickets will be provided for prize winners' money and those prizes only will be paid in full when the ticket is returned to the Secretary certify- ing that the animal has taken part in the Parade. Exhibitors must present their Parade tickets upon entering the Parade. The sum of $1.00 will be deducted from the prize money of any winning animal failing to show in the Parade, This rule will be strictly enforced. Driving on the 8how Grounds 24, No person shall he allowed to drive or ride a horse on the Show grounds faster than a walk, except within the exhibition ring, under the penaltty of immediate removal from the Exhibition Grounds, 256, Exhibitors whose tickets have not heen delivered thereto- fore will find entry cards and members' tickets ready for them at the office of the Secretary, on the Fair Grounds, on the first day of the Fair, 26, Diligence will be used by the officers of the Association to en- sure the safety of articles sent to the exhibition and to prevent in- jury or loss to animals, but the owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting and should any article be accidently injured, lost or stolen the Directors will render all the assistance in their power towards its' recovery, hut will not make any payment of the value thereof or be otherwise liable. 27. Exhibitors of animals, ma- chinery in motion and other ex- hibits liable to occasion accidents, injury or damage to persons com- ing into contact with theme shall guard their exhibits. and protect the public from coming in contact therewith, and every such exhibi- tor shall indemnify the Association from and against all claims and demands, cost, charge and expense which it may occur, suffer or be put to by reason of any accident or any such person being injured or suffering damage through or by reason of such exhibit not being properly guarded or the public Bo being properly protected there- rom, Games of Chance op Gambling Ba ' rred 28, Notice is hereby given that the officers of the Association or Society strictly probibit and pre- vent monteback performances, ex- hibitions or shows and no permits will be granted for the sale of cheap jewellery or articles of a similar nature, and no games of chance or gambling will be per- mitted on the grounds or within 300 yards thereof. No peddling will. be allowed on the Fair Grounds. The Association will al- so regulate the huckstering or trafficking in fruits, goods, ware or merchandise on Exhibitio Grounds or within 300 ards thereof, and any person who, afte due notice of such rules snd regu lations violates the same, shall liable to be removed by the Officers policemen or constables of the As- sociation or Society, and the Act representing Agricultural Socle- ties, R.R.S.0, 1928, will be enfore- ed as to all fakirs and shows. 29. The entry tickets upon articles will admit the person bringing the mto the Show Grounds for ex- hibition only, with such animals or articles; afterwards such par- ties must be provided with the pro- per admission tickets. What 'Membership Entitles Mem. bers to 32. Memhers upon purchasing a membership ticket for 1828 or members whose fees are retained for prize money of 1027 will he permitted to make as many entries as they wish, free of charge, ex- cept in the case of horees, cattle, sheep, swine and poultry, and where otherwise stated in the note at the head of any class in the Prize List, in whieh case the mem- bership ticket entitled an exhibl- tor to one entry, free of charge, on his whole list of entries on which the entrance fees are chargeable, excepting that all entries of light horses in harness will he charged $1.00 for each entry, irrespective of membership fees. Stalls for horses will be reserved in the or- der of application, while they last, for the horses entered for exhibi- tion. No charge will be made for stalls for any stock. Space for poultry will be arranged hy the Chairman in charge. Exhibitors are requested to make their en- tries early. Exhibitors will please be careful to state the class and section in which they intend each different article to compete and to sign their names, and all entry fees must be paid to the Secretary when making entries, No stalls or pens reserved unless for animals enter- ed for exhibition, Baled hay and erain for sale on the grounds, if desired. 33. The Floral Hall and Fruit and Vegetable Building will be cleared at 5.00 p.m. on the last day of the Fair. Tickets will be furnished by the Secretary to ex- hibitors, which will admit them to these bujldings after 5.00 p.m, to remove their exhibits, which may be removed after 5 p.nr. 84, Prizes will be paid by che- que, mailed on or before October 81st, except in cases of Protest or dispute, Prize winners are re- quested to cash their cheques im- mediately after receiving them. 85. One dollar will be retained from all prize winners as member- ship fee for 1929. 36. The Directors will meet at 11 a.m, each day of the Fair.
