Because she is not ridiculously sen- timental, Because she doesn't gush, giggle, or scream. Because she doesn't weary me with her envies and petty jealousies, Because there is an old-world charm about her yet she never seems to be anything but quite up to date, She is the girl on my almanac, FOR GIRLS (Glasgow Herald) Yes! THE OSHAWA DAILY TIMES, FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, 1928 ed Police was the highest made since these competitions were or- ganized three years ago, and the average scores made by the various teams competing also show a mark- ed improvement each year, siuce the competitions were first started. The Dominion petitions were organized by the Dominion Cartridge Company 3 years ago with a view to creating a spirit of friendly rivalry amongst the police officers throughout Can- ada. The following statement was recently issued by this Company: "Large areas in Canada are sparsely populated, and the gen- eral increase in violent erimes dur- ing the past few years make It imperative that our police officers be thoroughly proficient with their A police department side arms, whose members are expert shooters not only insures protection themselves, but are an ever pres- ent menace to persons who con template crime. These competi- tions are of considerable benefit in improving the shooting of wvur police officers, as the object 1s not merely to train a few expert men, but to enthuse all ranks to become more efficient with a revolver un- der actual service conditions." Superintendent Christen Junget, Commanding Officer of the Letn- bridge Detachment, R.C.M.P., 1s receiving congratulations upon the fine showing of his team, You can dissolve everything in the world, even a great fortune, into atoms.
