Jonas, who was represented by a lawyer be- fore the Ministry of Fine Arts. Other lawyers for the buyer, for the owner and for the auctioneer also were in- volved in the transaction, M. Jonas regards the reversal of ban as mot surprising. He says that according to a law of 1921 gov- erning the exportation of art works, it is provided that only such histori- cal works as known to the commis- sion are affected. It was said that the Beauvais tapes! was mot in- cluded in this list for that reason the Government was allowing it to be exported. It pr will be shipped Wednesday on the De France. The masterpiece was bought M. Jonas for 1970000 francs, 195 per cent. charges. by plus Also board, |e MANY ATTRACTED T0 AIRCRAFT SHOW Visitors Interested in Cost of "Planes and Science of Flying FLIVVER EXHIBITED Airplane Supplies Shown in Booths--Framework Displayed -- Canada's and Montreal's first air- craft exhibition still continued to hold interest among the many visitors who viewed the planes and other exhibits on view in the drill hall on Craig street. Although no official figures were available Lionel J. St. Jean, president of the organization board of the ex- hibition committee, estimated that there were between 1,500 and 2,000 visitors during the day. Many were keenly interested in the membership conditions of the . Montreal Light Aeroplane Club, Incorporated, while others wanted to know just how much a light airplane would cost and the science of operating a machine. There was nothing special on the program which had not been pro- duced on opening day, apart from the addition of the. exhibits of a small two-seater 'plane produced by the Mono Aircraft Incorporated of Mo- line, Illinois, This machine only ar- rived at 'the St. Oubert airport at § o'clock. It was flown by Pilot Dixie Davis and made a perfect landing at the airport. The machine is of the flivver type and was the centre of attraction at the show. It is very small, weighing 860 pounds and has a Velie engine of 70-80 horse power. Already the production totals 30 planes a week. In this particular class of plane the pilot and passenger sit side-by-side as in an ordinary auto roadster, The plane, with the exception of the wing spread, is almost as small as the ordinary flivver, The exhibition was viewed by many prominent gitizens who are taking more than passing interest in flying since the world-wide news of ocean and endurance flights during the last year and a half. Those who bought admission tickets or official programs cherished the numbers of their re- ceipts in the hope that they might be lucky enough to win the numbers entitling them to a free flight of 20 minutes at the conclusion of the show, Every day a number is an- nounced for a ticket purchaser and a second one for a lucky program hold- r, In the show room there is an out- standing exhibit provided by Can- adian Vickers, Limited. Two heavy machines are on display, one an am- phibian and the other a seaplane, used principally for photography and survey work, In addition to these models the company has placed on display a considerable part of frame- work of heavier-than-air craft, Several booths have also been plac- ed in the building by producers of airplane supplies, such as tire manu- facturers, "dope" suppliers and others. The show is continuing all this week, the doors opening at 1 p.m. and re- meining open until 11 p.m. POLICE CALLED TO OP UNIQUE GAME New York, July 11.=Mrs. Eleanor Kroponowska was attracted to the banks of Shallow Mill Creek in Jer- sey City Monday afternoon by sounds of weeping and laughter and came upon the unusual spectacle of an eight-year-old boy stuck in the mud of the creek bottom while four older hoys tossed barrel hoops at his head. Hit or miss, they laughed uproar- iously, while the victim dodged in and out of the water, The creek is only three feet deep, but the boy was imprisoned in = mud almost to his knees and had taken nearly enough of the muddy water into his lungs to drown him. Mrs. Krojonowska gazed on the scene in amazement for a moment and then called the police, BREMEN WILL BE SHOWN IN QUEBEC Trans-Atlantic "Plane Will be Taken to Provincial Capital New York, July 14.--The alr- plane Bremen will be returned to Germany after it has been exhibit- ed in Quebec, it was annpunced here Sunday by the North German Lloyd, whom Baron Von Huenefeld bas requested to ship the plure.
