MONROE DOCTRINE MERE SOUVENIR Paris, July 72--"The Monroe Doc- trine now is a mere souvenir of the days when South America needed protection from the Holy Alliance," Argentinian Ambassador de Toledo said at a dinner in his honor by the Revue Amerique Latine. Criticising the United States Latin American policy, the ambassador said: "Senator Fess of Ohio, at the Re- publican national convention, said that every nation had the right to assure 'its own protection and inde- pendence, and could demand recogni- tion of its rights by other nations. "Thus, after long experience, Ar- gentina can declare that the Monroe Doctrine, which was useful to protect us against possible attacks in the days of the Holy Alliance, now is but a memory of aid brought by a friendly nation during the troubled days of the young American democracies." "Teddy" Reeve, Kelley Degray and Bob Stephenson are the Oshawa playets who will perform in the game avith the Western team at Ulster Stadium in Toronto next Monday evening. The task of choosing the team was left in the hands of Messrs Quer- rie, Murphy and Smith, but in order that there be no hard feeling in the sclections, two men from each club were first picked, then for the sub- stitute roles an additional name was chosen. The management of the Western club at first were inclined to ask last year's team, which was defeated out West for the Mann Trophy, be asked to play, but as the major portion of the team is scat- tered for the present season and to date the Weston Club has had no great measure of success, it was fin- ally decided that the all-star cast would suit the requirements of the occasion. The boys will line up about as follows :-- Goal--Wilson (Weston) and Large (Brampton), Point--Thom (St. Simon's). Cover-point--Coulter $eston), First defence--"Dewey" Davis (Te rontos).
