THE OSHAWA DAILY TIMES. SATURDAY. NOVEMBER 26. 1927 SELECTION of BEST STRIPS for TI Detroit, Mich.,, Nov. 24.--Henry Ford announced today that his new car would be given its first public showing in Canada, England and .the United States on Friday, December | 2. The new model, he estimated, will be responsible for the expendi- ture of nearly $800,000,000 for lab or and materials during 1928. The new ear will be known offi- cially as Model A. For more than a month the chief manufacturing plants of the company have been produeing the machine in daily in. creasing numbers. Quantity produe- tion of parts for the mew model is now under way at the plants here, and these parts are being shipped to the hranches for assembly as rap- idly as possible. Mr. Ford's opti- mistie outlook for the coming year, | | predicated on the]. he said, is not desires or sales ambitions of the Ford Motor Company. "It is based," he said, '"'on ample evidence cf continued and increasing material prosperity." Then in a for- mal statement the auto magnate says: "National wealth is increasing. Individuals have more money. Taxes are on the decrease and Government- al economy has made for better business in all lines. - "People buy when they have mon ¢y, They become cautious in their expenditures only when money be- cones scarce, Money is not searce today, nor will it become so next year, in my opinion. Therefore we will have what we visualize as prosperity. Matter of Productifn "The outiook for 1928 is simply a matter of production. Production means the consumption of materials and labor, All production in this country is either holding its own or increasing and I believe that it will continue to increase during next vear. That /will mean greater distri- bution of /money and greater pur. chasing power. "It has heen said that national || business has suffered during the months when we were preparing to produce the new car. I do not he- lieve it, It may he true that fewer adars were sold than would have heen scld if our factory and sales oranizations had been operating on a normal basis. But during that period, when we were not actnally ilding autos, we were still spend- ing hundreds of millions of dollars for wages, materials, new machin- ery and in experimental work. More than that, we were getting for what we believe to he the great-| ost. period of consumption in the history of our husiness.
