Cowie, real estate and insurance broker, of Oakville lost his suit for $25,000 alleged libel against The Evening Telegram today when an Assize Court jury decided in favor of the defendant. The suit arose from statements published in The Telegram following Cowie's arrest on charges involving real estate deals, The cases, Cowie emphasized in court today, were later dropped by the Crown, D. O. Cameron, counsel for Cowie, insisted that the published state- ments were false and misleadnig.
