WIANERS DECLARED IN ESSAY CONTEST Central School Pupils Win in /the Confederation Essay Competition (By Staff Reporter) Bowmanville, Sept. 29.--The On- tario Government medal for the best essay on "Confederation" in the public schools of Durham County, as well as the Strathcona silver med- { al for target shooting in the public schools, have been won by students in Central Public School here, of which J. H. Johnston is principal. Evelyn Goddard, thirteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs, W. F. Goddard, won the medal for the best essay in competition with all fourth class students in the county. OSHAWA BANDS AT ROTARY STREET FAIR (By Staff Repotbon Bowmanville, Sept. 28.--With the presence of the Oshawa 24th 'Regi- ment Band certain, and the coming of the Legion Pipe Band of Oshawa, a possibility, plans are shaping to make the Rotary Street Fair being held here on October 12 one of the most suecessful ventures of the local Rotary Club. The police committee, of which George W. The boys pleaded guilty and were not represented by counsel, 15 BOUND OVER 10 KEEP PEACE Guilty to Malicious Damage of Property Andrew Bakogeorge, proprietor of the Olympia Candy Works was bound over to keep the peace to the extent of $500 when he appeared before Magistrate A. F. Hind in police court this morning. Bakogeorge pleaded guilty to doing malicious damage property. 'J. P.
