Practically all the new freight tariffs filed by the various railways affected have been approved by the board, excepting those filed by the Canadian National Railways. Under the tariffs filed by the Canadian National Railways it is understood there i8 no provision for the routing of goods through the City of St. John. Again, under She tariffs filed it is understood tye e not satisfac- tory to Hara d particularly the steel and coal producing areas in Bastern Nova Scotia. These dis- crepancies, it is anticipated, how- ever, will be satisfactorily elimin- ated, MAGGIE CALAMITY HARTOG ESTABLISHYS NEW RECORD Brantford, July 11.--That re- markgble locally raised Holstein cow, Maggie Calamity Hartog, who has established records for both milk and cream, has just completed a 365-day test as a mature cow, and is credited with 28,172 pounds of milk, containing 1,038 tounds of fat, thus showing 3.62 per cent fat in the milk for the whole year. This is a record for a 4-year-old. Myrtle Hartog, owned hy Haley and Lee of Springford, and another of the same record-making family, 44s first in the butter tests for the month of May in a seven-day test with 25.81 pounds of butter. An- other of Haley and Lée's cows, Jean Korndyke Calamity, took second in the 2-year-old test with. 20.17 ponnds of butter i a seven-day tets. Kerr, President of the Chatham Poultry Association, reports today that the foreign delegates to the World's Poultry Cougress in Ottawa will vis- it Chatham on Aug. 11. There will be about 152 men in the paryt, and they will be accompanied here by Hon. Mr. Motherwell, Federal Minis- ter of Agriculture. The delegates will be shown over the tobacco fields, and will also be introduced to the other special crops of Kent County. They will be entertained by the city.
