Dr. McCausland was born in Toronto, received his early education there, and graduated from the Univer sity of Toronto Medical School in June 1937. He in- terned at Sick Children's for three years and spent one year in General Practice in New Market, before joining the Navy in 1942. He married the former Lois Haywood after graduation, and they have four daughters, three of whom are married and Pat the youngest is in training at Sick Children's. According to local statistics, Dr. Mike has deliver- ed over 1,000 babies in the Terrace Bay Hospital . Many of these babies are now back here and in at least two cases, have married, and Dr. Mike has de- livered the second generation offspring. More than 400 letters were sent out to former resi- dents of Terrace Bay, inviting them to return and pay tribute to a wonderful doctor and humanitarian. . Saturday evening, at 7:30, the Terrace Bay Band, under the direction of Mrs. Ellen Hodgkiss, played to a capacity audience, preceding the arrival of Dr. and Mrs. McCausland. To the strains of For He's a Jolly Good Fellow; Reeve W.E. Cavanaugh escorted Mrs. McCausland, followed by Dr. McCausland and Mrs. Cavanaugh, to the dais. Mr. Monty Paget was Master of Ceremonies for the evening and after his opening remarks, he called on Miss Marily Marsh, the first baby to be born in Terr- ace Bay, to present a bouquet of red roses to Mrs. McCausland. Mr. Paget invited Dr. C.N. Johnston, of. the Dr. Johnston is a long time friend of Dr. Mike's and brought greetings from the Association and from May- or Saul Laskin and the Council of Thunder Bay, and,on behalf of that city, presented a Thunder Bay contimied page I2 secccee
