Adey, who is in partnership with Dr. Mike, introduced the other Doctors who were pres- ent, including some of those who had been associa- ted with Dr. McCausland in his work here. - Miss Kay McKeen, first Matron of the hospital, presented Dr. Mike with a Memory Album, contain- ing hundreds of pictures of babies he has delivered over the years. Mr. J.C. Wig, Vice-President, General Manager of Operations, Kimberly-Clark Pulp & Paper Co. Ltd., and an old friend of Dr. Mike, reminisced about the early years in Terrace Bay and paid tribute to a fine doctor and a good friend. Reeve Harness of Schreiber, brought greetings from his Council and thanked Dr. Mike for his ser- , vices to that community over the years, particularly during the time Schreiber was without a doctor of their own and presented Dr. Mike with a token of their esteem, on behalf of the people of that town. Another highlight of the evening was a gift of a clock, barometer and thermometer set in beautiful California Redwood, presented by three families who - were former residents of Terrace Bay, now living in the States, The Bill Serneskys', the Russ rent and the Jerry Weavers. Mr. Jack Caccamo, Deputy Reeve, gave Dr. Mike a silver tray, suitably inscribed,with the best wishes of Council and the town. Mr. J.A. Ferrier, Mill Manager, offered con- gratulations, and made the announcement that as of August Ist, 1970 Terrace Bay's modern 26 bed hospital would henceforth be known as the Dr. McCausland Private Hospital . Reeve Cavanaugh had the honour of presenting Dr. Mike with a plaque denoting that a "Dr. Mike Scholarship Fund" had been set up, with the scholar ship going annually to a Grade 13 students for schol astic achievement. At last report, the fund had reached the $3800. mark. In closing, Curly Hale,the chairman of the com- mittee thanked everyone who had helped make the day such a success, and called upon Dr. Mike to say a few words. Dr. McCausland expressed his gratitude to one and all, and stated that he had always been happy in his work in Terrace Bay, and appreciated the co- operation and friendships he had received over the past twenty-five years. A quiet gentle man, Dr. Mike has a keen sense TERRACE BAY NEWS AUGUST 6, 1970 of humour and his esdy chuckle bubbled forth as he recalled that he had come to Terrace Bay twenty five years ago - liked the place and people here and has just been doing "his thing" ever since and enjoyed it. Dancing was enjoyed to the music of Roy Coran and his orchestra, and during the intermission, Bert Lohr called members of the former Male Choir, in which Dr. Mike sang, to come forward and sing a few numbers for old times sake. It was thrilling to again here those male voices raised in the familiar strains of "Let There Be Music" their opening number. As a final gift, Councillor Dave Desrosiers, on be- half of all Dr. Mike's friends, presented him with a Mini-bike and the rafters sang with applause as Dr. Mike guided his new vehicle around the center of the Arena for a little practise run. Much time and effort was spent on organizing this event and the results of the various committees were evident during the evening: the attractively decorated arena with its hundreds of mobiles and streamers; the thousands of sandwiches prepared, the capable dis- tribution of refreshments and the efficient manner in which the entire program proceeded.
