RECREATION NEWS - by Jerry Dupas CHANGE IN SWIMMING POOL EVENING PRO - GRAMME - Due to the recent complaints with regard to the "Family Swim" programme held on weekday evenings from 7.00 to 9.00 p.m., a change will be made starting Wednesday, July 15th. "Family Swim" was initially introduced to promote a family activity, to create an opportunity for Mother and Dad to swim with their children. This was at- tempted even though it created additional problems for our staff. Starting Wednesday July 15th, all weekday sessions from 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. will be open to people 14 years of age and over ONLY. Children under 14 years of age will have the oppor- tunity of swimming: - EVERY WEEKDAY MORNING, EVERY WEEKDAY AFTERNOON, - ALL SESSIONS ON WEEKENDS. PLAYGROUND PROGRAMME Attendance for the first week of Playground is up from last year, as just over 400 children took part. MINOR FASTBALL '70 Congratulations are in order to the following teams and coaches for winning the championship in their respective ball leagues. Rolly Moquin's TIGERS de- feated Paulette Coupal's ROYALS in the Final Play- offs for the American League. Brian McDonald's GIANTS defeated Al Turner's CARDINALS in the final Playoffs for the National League. Don Gresdal's WHITESOX defeated Wally Fisher's RED SOX in the final Playoffs for the Pony League.
