RECREATION BRIEFS - By Jerry Dupas TERRACE BAY BANTAMS VERY SUCCESSFUL Results of the games played against Marathon this past weekend were as follows: - Saturday, March 7th Marathon 3, Terrace Bay 2; Sunday, March 8th - Terrace Bay 5, Marathon 2. This two-game, total- | goal-to-count series was played to decide the Eastern zone representative of the North Shore. Having won this series, the Terrace Bay Bantams will now play for the North Shore title this coming week- end .as follows: Saturday, March 14th - Geraldton vs. Terrace Bay, Game time 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 15th - Geraldton vs. Terrace Bay. Game time 1:00 p.m. (Both games will be played in the Terrace Bay Arena). All Minor Hockey fans should make a special attem pt to attend both games and cheer our local bantams to the Thunder Bay playoffs. It is interesting to note that the winner of this series will host the Thunder Bay Bantam playoffs later this month. GIRLS' RINGETTE - TRANSPORTATION NEEDED On Tuesday, March 24th, the Manitouwadge girls' Ringette League will be hosting an inter-town Ring- ette tournament. We are hoping to senda total of three teams to this tournament. !n order to do so, we require roughly four or five cars to transport the girls to and from Manitouwadge. Plans are such that we will be leaving Terrace Bay at 8:00 a.m. and will be returning at 5:00 p.m. If you are anxious to assist our girls, please call the Recreation Office at 3542 IMMEDIATELY. Your co-operation would be greatly appreciated by the girls in our Ringette League. Ringette standings as of Monday, March 9th - Mini-Allstars - 11 points; Ringers - 9 points; Silver- heads - 0 points. RECREATION CONFERENCE =~ REGISTER NOW! As outlined in last week's News, registration dead- line for this' Recreation Conference is MONDAY, MARCH 16TH. Registration forms and other pertinent information are available at the Recreation Office. If you are at all interested, contact the Recreation Office at 3542. To repeat - this Recreation Conference is open to community group leaders and participants, Recreation Committee members, Municipal Councillors and people who are interested in Recreation, from the communities of Caramat, Manitouwadge, Heron Bay, Marathon, Schreiber and Terrace Bay. The theme of this conference is EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AT THE LOCAL AND REGIONAL LEVEL. Here is your chance to sit down with people in your own community and interested people from other com- | munities to discuss mutual problems and concerns,, AND to be exposed to communication and its impor- tance in the community. JUNIOR HOCKEY - OPEN MEETING. A reminder to all interested Junior fans that an open meeting will take place this Thursday, March 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Recreation Centre. The purpose of this meeting is for interested persons to sit down and discuss problems that have occurred in the past, new ideas for the forthcoming season, and to propose plans for 1970-71 We are hoping that people interested in Junior Hockey will make it a point to attend this meeting. TERRACE BAY YOUTH TO BE REPRESENTED AT THE "KNACK" - A total of four people will be attending a Youth Workshop Seminar in Atikokan from March 22nd until the 27th. Kristine Chepelsky, Paulette Duquette and Joyce Belliveau will be sponsored by the Terrace Bay Recreation Committee and Dale Boutilier will be sponsored by the High School Student Council. This workshop is designed to develop potential and well-versed community group leaders to further develop their creative skills and leadership capabilities. JUNIOR BADMINTON CLINIC A six-week Badminton Clinic will be held for boys and girls 10 to 15 years of age, starting on Saturday, April 4th. Registration forms will be circulated next week throughout the schools. If you are interested in joining, be sure to fill out your registration forms and return it to the Recreation Office by Wednesday, April Ist.
