PERSSU e BOX 375 _ TERRACE B/Y KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HOLD SUCCESSFUL PUBLIC SPEAKING CONTEST A well attended Ist Annual Knights of Columbus Public Speaking Contest was held Sunday evening, January 18th at Terrace Bay High School Auditorium. Thirteen young competitors from Terrace Bay St. |) Martin's School and Holy Angels School, Schreiber ') delivered speeches with the greatest of confidence. The twelve girls and one boy contestant ranged in age from Grade Two to Grade Eight level . John Anderson, Schreiber, the only boy entered = in the event, deserves a vote of praise for his well delivered speech. At a recent meeting of the Recreation Committee, Mr. Frank Anderson was re-elected Chairman and Mrs. J. Chapman as Vice-Chairman. The following responsibility areas were assigned to Committee members: - F. Anderson - Chairman and General Adminis- tration; O. Chapman = Vice-Chairman, Figure Skating, Swimming, Ladies' Curling and Female Activities; C. Brassard - Hockey, Bowling and Male Activities; W. Melnyk - Maintenance, Development. and Concession; R. Roberts - Vend- ing Machines and Men's Curling; W.R. Bray - -- Council Representative; A. Allen - Council Representative. The members of the Recreation Committee and the Sports and Recreation Co-ordinator stand ready to assist all activities and organizations of the town. HELP NEEDED! Would you be interested in assisting girls in their Ringette League? It would take one hour of your time each week. We require three coaches and two or three referees . Your assistance would be appreciated by the thirty girls who-are very anxious to start their league. Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays encouraged to take part in this worthwhile competition] weekly from 4.00 - 5.00 p.m. RULES ARE _ M.C. for the evening was Mr. Michael Anderson, Principal, St. Martin's School.
