Vol. 12 No. 49 RECREATION DIRECTOR TAKES UP DUTIES We extend a hearty welcome to our new commun- ity Sports and Recreation Co-ordinator, Gerald J. Dupas. Gerry and his wife Nancy arrived in - Terrace Bay on Saturday taking up residence at 94 Hudson Drive. Now twenty-three, Gerry took a Recreation Course at University in Guelph, graduating in 1967. He will receive his permanent "B" Certificate in April 1970. For the past two and one half years he has been assistant Recreation Director in Man- itouwadge. Although his interest is in Recreation for all ages, Gerry has worked closely with youth in the past and can claim a degree of success in this field. Registration begins Friday at 6.00 p.m. for all skaters twelve and over. Skaters under twelve not to start until 8.00 a.m. Saturday. Skaters may register and start at any time during the event. Coffee, hot soup and sandwiches will be served to the skaters. 10 minutes rest period per hour. St. John's Ambulance in attendance at all times. Prizes: $15.00 each for the child, teenager and adult who raises the most money. NOTE - Skaters are urged to bring extra stock= ings and laces. They are urged not to wear nylon stockings. Skaters must register with pledge forms before entering ice surface. Former Superior players have accepted challenges and will be skating. Our Reeve will lead off the skaters and has promised to skate for one hour. His. promised spon- sors to date are: Kimberly Clark, Canadian Legion, Township of Terrace Bay, Recreation Committee, Caccamo's, Costa's, Dr. MacDonald, Robinson and Waghorn's. The Reeve urges anyone wishing to sponsor him to notify the municipal office. CHANGE IN TOWNSITE GARBAGE PICK UP Townsite garbage pick-up day regularly sched= uled on December 26th, 1969 is changed to Saturday, December 27th, 1969. APE
