MAY 29, 1969 Interment in Schreiber Cemetery-cont'd from page 12 Active pallbearers were Bill Paradis, Ivan Johnson Henry Paske, Bob Campbell, Norman McCuaig, And Godfrey Birch. Interment was in Schreiber Cemetery. The former Hetty Taylor, she. was born 83 years ago in the District of Chesterfield, County of Derby , England, and came to Canada and Schreiber in 1711 She married August 3, 1913 in Schreiber to William Alcorn who predeceased her on March 25 of this year. She was a member of St. John's Anglican Church a life member of Argyle Chaper, O.£.S. Port Arthur . Silver Birch Chaper, O.E.S. Terrace Bay held their service in the funeral home prior to the church ser- vice. Surviving are two sons, Renald and Albert, Fort William; a daughter. Lillian Mrs. Bill Love of Hazel- ton B.C.: and seven grandchildren. There are also nieces and nephews. Among those from out of town attending the service were Mr. and Mrs. Renald Alcorn, Arlene and Ruth Mr. and Mrs. Albert Alcorn, Evelyn and David, and Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Bangs, Mrs. John Didych, Mrs. R.S. Hutchinson, all of Fort William, Mrs. Bill Love Hazelton, B.C. TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 13 Mrs. Mary Shack presents Tawny Warrent Pin to Mrs.Janet Kulmatycki. ; One hundced and ninety-one attended the sixth annual mother and daughter banquet of the Girl Gwdes and Brownies held in the Guild Hall. The Catholic Women's League, who sponsor the movement in Schreiber, provided the meal and were assisted with the serv- ing by the United Church and Anglican Church Women. Tawny Owl Mrs. June Sisson welcomed the mothers and in- troduced head table guests which included White Sand District Commissioner Mrs. Mary Shack, AquasSabon District Com- missioner Mrs. Shirley Caron, Mrs. Bill Stefurak. Rev. E. C. Prinselaar, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Scott, Mrs. Arthur Moorey. Grace was sung and toasts were proposed as follows: toe the Queen, by Alanna Power; to Lady Baden Powell, by Betty Ann McKenna; to the Guide Mothers, by Ann Kulmatycki; to the Brownie Mothers, by Beverly Duffy, Mrs. Sonny Duffy responded for the mothers. Madam Commissioner Mary Shack introduced the Gu'ders, Acting Captain Mrs. Andrea Hill, Lieutenant Wilimiena Prinselaar, and welcomed new leaders Lieutenants Rese Hierd and Sol- ande Welsh. Blue leaders; Brown Leaders--Brown Owl Agnes Diet- rich, Tawny Owl Janet Kulmaty- cki, Tawny Owl Audrey McKay of first Pack. Brown Ow! Mar- cella Cebrario, Tawny Owls June Sisson, Betty Huard. Dodie Kirkpatrick, and Packie Dale Sisson. _She lauded the Guiders for tne time and effort they spend train- ing the girls and in addition planning and preparing programs, songs, games, crafts caruping, etc, and althcugh they do this willingly, they do need the sup- port of the parents. She mention- ed with regret the loss of Guide Captain Mrs. Ellen Campbell and wished her happiness in her new home. * Photo by I.McCuaig| Tawny Ow! Guest speaker Acting Captain Andrea Hill was introduced by Mrs. Shack. Mrs. Hill said it is hard to be torn hetween Guides and outside: pressures especially when TV attracts and friends tease. She could remember her own experience when as a young Guide being called a GG-Goody Goodie. To the older guides who will be in grade eight or entering High shcool this fall she said she hoped they would not fee: guilty if they had to drop out of Guides due to increased de- mands on their time. Leaders are very understanding and will always remain their friends. She thanked Mr. and Mrs. Keith Scott who were their special guests at the dinner, Mr. Scott for making patrol boxes and Mrs. Scott for her patience in coping with the confusion in her home while they were in the making. She announced there will be a gathering for Guides 13 and over in Terrace Bay on Mey' 31, with Guides from Schreiber, Terrace Bay, Nipigon, Marathon and Manitouwadge attending. During the dinner the girls en- tertained the guests with songs and Cathy Cocks. Brenda Cebra- rio, Linda' Huard and Jade Dukes read an Indian Legend expressing the spirit of Guiding. The prize for mothers was won by Mrs. R. Seide}, for the Guides, by Donna McGrath and for the Brownies by Eva Eusebi. The centrepieces for the tables were made by the Golden Bar Brownies. Brown Owl Marcella, Cebrario, announced a Brownie Revel is being planned, the date and site not yet decided. and ask- ed for assistance from the moth- ers and fathers in overseeing the small children, lighting fires, and driving cars. "No", said the girl's mother, "I don't want you to hit back at your little brother. Remember, you're a lady. Outtalk him!"
