TERRACE BAY NEWS TERRACE BAY HIGH SCHOOL East-West Basketball. And Cheerleading Last Saturday after- noon the Terrace Bay High School gym was buzzing with activity when th annual dis- trict basketball and cheerleading compe- titions were held. Our Terrace Bay girls after winning the western division two weeks ago competed against Man- itouwadge for the East- West Trophy. With their usual skill and tactics hey won the game 51 24, There was never a dull moment during the cheer- leading competitions either and the seven groups from Schreiber, Marathon, Nip-Rock, Wawa, Manitouwadge, Geraldton, and Terrace Bay pre- sented happy and cheerful! routines for the enjoymeni of the many spectators. Each group displayed var- iety and originality in bothe their cheers and actions. Geraldton's eight cheerleaders topped the list taking the trophy for the first time. The boys game was between Nip-Rock and Wawa. Each team made impossible shots and it was inter- esting and exciting to watch such plays. The game was very Close and it was hard to tell who would take the trophy, but Wawa in the end won it by, | ascore of 52-49. Mr. W.W. Rowsome, principal of Terrace Bay High School, took these enthusiastic students on a tour of the new addition. Speaking of the new addition five classrooms were opened for use by the students on Thursday. Alternations are now taking place in the front section of the old part of the school. This section will contain a staff room, lunch room, guidance offices and the general' office .(See pictures on page 7.)
