FEBRUARY 27 SC HREI BER LEGION BONSPIEL An exuberant audience supported the recent Legion bonspiel in Schreiber. Thirteen rinks were entered with Tom Webb and Bill Collinson co-chairmen of the event. A dinner was served in the rink club room on the last day. Winners of the first event - John Stitt, Cora Ribout Hele: LeBlanc and Perry Perras, received the Legion trop, presented by Micky McFadden, with travel ba:s for the men and eleciric aldin clocks for the women. The runners -up were presented with curling ashtrays Don Tremblay, Ruth Hiller, Jack Luke and Lorruine Weaver. Third place, Jack Friesen, Lorraine Huard, Bill Cocks, Marg Pinion received towels. Second Eventwinners Pat Herlhihy, Edna Cocks, Gordon Willoughby and Connie Martin, received * blankets. Runners-up Harold Gellert, Maureen Rismondo, Ken Davis, Bucky McCoun, a chicken canned ham and pen. Third Rina Welbourne, Doug Moore, Bill Collinson, and Betty Luke, towels. Third Event winners Kay Gellert, John Ribou}, Lil MacDonald, and Lou Karns - Food Packs. Runners-up Rina Welbourne, Doug Moor, Bill Collinson, and Betty Luke, Lubricating Oil. Third Nettie Thrower, Len Hiller, Barb McLaughlin and Carl Kazmierczak, Fishing reels. First rink knocked out Wally Zaporzan, Pat Moore, Etta Gray, Bill McKenzie, four packs of cigarettes. Music during the evenings was provided by Stan Spadoni, traps Tony Commisso, accordion and Allan Beall Geese ee Mrs. Pat LeBlanc Honoured Mrs. Pat LeBlanc was honoured at a party arranged by her daughters-in-law Mrs. Edgar LeBlanc and Mrs. Arthur LeBlanc in the latter's home, when former . - neighbours and old friends gathered to talk over earl-" ier years and events and wish her happiness when she goes to Fort William. Among the gifts presented on behalf of her friends by Mrs. A. LeBlanc was a beautiful cardigan from the ladies' auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 109, of which Mrs. LeBlanc was a charter member. Her bridge club gave Mrs. Ray Sisson a housewarming party in her new home on Park St. on Thursday evening, presenting her with a wedgewood vase. McCuaig) Skidoo Club - Keith Scott has been elected pres- ident of the new-formed skidoo club in Schreiber, with other officers being Cos Figliomeni, vice pres. Mrs. Lorraine Huard, secretary-treasurer, Russell Macadam, membership chairman, Jim Smith, pub- licity and entertainment chairman, Dan Godin, work shop chairman. Earl Welbourne, trail blazer, chair- man. : There were 21 at the meeting held in the United Church hall. Suggestions for a crest and the possibil- ity of holding a snowmobile fish derby were consider- ed. The name Schreiber Kool Kats was adopted for the club.
