VOL 12, NO. 4 TOWN COUNCIL QUOTES The first regular meeting of Terrace Bay Town Council took place Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. with Reeve Cavanaugh presiding and Councillors Bray, Caccamo, Desrosiers and Farrell present. Clerk Hanley read the minutes of the previous meeting. Dave Desrosiers will review a draft of.By-laws re- ceived from Port Arthur in connection with snowmo- biles travelling on local highways and pedestrian ways and bring a reccommendation to Council. A request was received from Nick Commisso to pur- chase some property on the west boundary of Terrace Bay for the purpose of establishing a Poultry Farm. Clerk Hanley was instructed to investigate legal ownership of the land as far as the Township was con- cerned. A letter. containing the names of those residents who will be responsible for the use of the hydrant for the skating rink on Kenogami Road, was submitted. A letter from Ontario Hydro was read about the promotion of Recreation Rooms. The Chamber of Commerce made inquiries about. the removal of snow on the walkways on Simcoe Plaza. An amendment to the Fireworks By-law 206 was approved, to prohibit the setting off of fireworks com- pletely within the Township of Terrace Bay, except when a permit had been issued, under the terms of By-law 206. © The Minister of Highways stated in a letter that the subsidies will not be greater than in 1968. Dave Desrosiers was appointed to attend a Work- shop in Fort William on Road Safety. The Chamber of Commerce suggested that the representative from Terrace Bay reccommend that light or blinkers be in- stalled at the entrance to Terrace Bay for better traffic centrol . The Inaugural meeting of the Town Council of Terrace Bay for 1969, was held in the Council Chambers January 13th, at 11 o'clock. Rev. T.G. Husser gave the Invocation and the Prayer of Dedication. Clerk Hanley administered | the Oath of Office and the Oath of Allegiance. Reeve W.E. Cavanaugh, and Councillors Roy Bray, Dave Desrosiers and Jack Caccamo were all re- elected, and Bill Farrell was a newcomer to the Council. Rev. Husser congfatulatéd the Reeve and councillors, and said he hoped they would have a good year. Reeve Cavanaugh, in replying stated that he had relied on Supreme Guidance during his previous two years in office, and with God's help, he would go into the future with con- fidence. He welcomed Bill Farrell as a new council member, and stated he was glad to have the other members back with him for another term. Reeve Cavanaugh outlined briefly his aims and projects for 1969.
