VOL 11, NO. 28 NEW HIGH SCHOOL COURSES START IN SEPTEMBER The Terrace Bay High School Board has signed a con- tract with Gateway Development Co. Ltd, and con- struction is now underway for the addition to the High School . Various facilities will be phased into operation over September, October and November, as construction proceeds to completion. Although some special arrang ments in School operation will be required during this period, the Board is confident that regular education 'standards will be maintained. MANY FEATURES AT LAKEHEAD EXHIBITION News releases from Bob Brown, public relations offic- er of the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition (C.L.E.) which opens July 19th and runs through to July 27th, indicate that many new attractions are being presented this year: a fashion show will be presented (free) in the Home Arts Building 3 times daily, at 3, 8.15 and 9 p.m.; the "Esso" Hockey Caravan offers fans a chance to test:their shots' from 3 to 10 p.m. daily in the Exhibition Auditorium; among the 7,000 animal ex- hibits will be ea Arabian Stallions and a three day horse show starts this Saturday, with 250 horses competing for 115 troph- ies. Depending on ground conditions, these events will be held either in the main show ring near the Ontario building, or in the field show ring in the Grand : stand area. Clerk Hanley read the minutes, which were adoptied.. Correspondence was as follows: A letter from the Municipal Affairs Department stated that an extension of time re briefs on the Har= dy Report had been given till July 21st. The Provincial Secretary, Department of Citizen- ship, declared that Bill Hanley, Township Clerk, would be appointed Issuer of Marriage Licenses in this area. A letter was received from the Lakehead Univer- sity, thanking the town for the donation to them. The Children's Aid Society, Port Arthur, announ- ced that the office has been closed in Terrace Bay and that Mr. Litt was no longer in their employ. The Department of Finance stated that they would make a field visit, before grants would be made, to check assessment . The Office of the District Assessor prepared a list of final costs for 1968. The Children's Aid Society sent in their proposed Budget for the district of Thunder Bay. A letter of appreciation was receiv- ed from Alexander Phillips, Manager of North Western Ontario Develop- ment Council, thanking Council for information regarding the town. A letter from the Horticultural Society stated that the Annual Flower and Vegetable Show would take place on August 24. Council will again presenta Trophy and miniature at this time.
