Secord, Administrator of Community Programmes Section of the Ontaria Department of Education. The aims of the Federation were outlined to Peter Krystelowich of Port Arthur, District Representative for the Society of Municipal Recreation Directors and Mr. T. Axelson of Port Arthur, District Representative for the Ontario Municipal Recreation Association by Mr. Secord who stated that, "The Federation will provide a co-operative approach to the development of emateur sports in Onterio. Each sports governing body will control its own programme but the Federation will provide e vehicle where mitual problems can be solved and long-range plans can be made". Comminity Programmes has been given the responsibility by the Ontario Department of Education to administericthe funds under the Federal-Provinoial Agreement for Fitness and and Amateur Sport. The province has appropriated $200,00. for the current yeer which commences on April Ist, 1968. "The money is not meant to be a subsidy, but is meent to expand existing progremmes and stert new ones," said Mr. Secord. "In order to provide for long range planning and assure thet optimim use is being made of the funds, all requests for assistance will be chennelled through the provincial sports governing body for that sport.e Each sports governing body will meke one submission to Community Programmes covering one full year of operation, from April lst, 1968 to March 31st, 1969," explained Mr. Secord.
